Nobody likes to have surgery, not even a cosmetic surgery. But we all want or need the results. A surgery can always cause damage and the outcome may not be as desired. If it comes to a surgery that is done for cosmetic reasons only, then you want to be sure that the results are perfect.

Most of us have seen a liposuction on television already. The doctor rams a needle into the body and sucks out the fat of the body. It doesn’t look gentle and it isn’t. That’s the traditional way of doing liposuction but there is a better way of doing it.

That’s why many look for less invasive ways of surgical fat removal. One of these ways is so called tumescent liposuction. It is known today as the safest liposuction.

There are good reasons for having a tumescent liposuction. The recovery time is much shorter. While the traditional method requires a general anesthesia, the tumescent liposuction gets along with just a local anesthesia. The way the fat is removed causes much less blood loss and damage. These facts made the tumescent liposuction to the most popular liposuction nowadays.

Why is tumescent liposuction better? There is not really much of a difference but the one thing that is done differently is responsible for the good results. It is the liquid that is injected into the body that makes the difference. The liquid consists of lidocaine, epinephrine and saline and results in a slower blood circulation because the capillaries shrink.

The liquid is responsible for a swelling. This gives the needle much more room to operate and to remove the fat with less damage to the tissue.

The tumescent liposuction is quickly finished and for you it means that you can go back to work after about four days already. It also means that you have less pain which can be kept under control with standard pain killers.

There is one disadvantage of tumescent liposuction but it is something you can neglect. The surgery takes a little longer than without the fluid because inserting the fluid and removing it slowly after the surgery just takes its time. Beside of that it is the same surgery, just with better results.

There are common side effects like with any surgery. You may experience swelling and pain of course. There will be scars and some numbness. All these things should disappear after a few days to weeks and no longer bother you. Beside of that there are other typical complications for a liposuction. Your doctor has a list of all possible outcomes. Beside of that, tumescent liposuction is known to be very safe nowadays.

Smoking Bans Began in 1998

In 1998 California took drastic measures to help non-smokers feel more welcome in restaurants, bars and casinos. They outlawed smoking. In the last ten years, other states such as Arizona, Florida, New York and recently Oregon have followed California’s example. In 2001 law makers argued both sides of the law, however it was passed by a reasonable margin. Two big reasons for the passing of the bill were a healthy work place and a healthy smoke free environment for non-smokers. Oregon has taken its own steps toward setting an example for others to follow.

Through out the 80′s and early 90′s bills were passed all over the country outlawing workplace smoking. However these bills did not include bars, restaurants, bowling alleys or casinos. Lobbyists argued for these workers and brought forward statistics showing the effects of second hand smoke. They did not feel it was fair to offer a smoke free environment for some workers and not others. Many of the workers liked their jobs and wanted to keep them but ultimately did not want to be around smoke but they suffered through. In the end they had to deal with many second hand smoke issues.

Dining out is all about the experience. When people describe a positive dining experience, rarely do they describe it having a heavy cloud of smoke. In the past restaurant and bar owners offered both a non and smoking section. However after examining the filtration systems in restaurants, health officials reported increased chances of second hand smoke health problems. This was due largely to ventilation. Smoke can not be properly filtered out with ventilation. The only way to insure a healthy environment is to have smoking only outside. This has an appeal to non-smokers because not only can they dine and actually smell their dinners but they can also not worry about developing other health risks. For restaurant workers, they are able to also rest easy and know their work environment is not causing them cancer.

Some opponents to the bill felt it was taking away the right for an adult to choose what they do to their own bodies. However what they failed to see what by smoking in public places the smoker is taking away the right for a non-smoker to be healthy. In Oregon a compromise was made, smoking would be allowed outdoors. While this does not agree with everyone on each side of the issue, it is a fair compromise for bars and restaurants which have outdoor seating available.

Being exposed to second hand smoke exposes non-smokers to all the same risks as if they smoked. They can develop lung cancer, emphysema, and asthma. Some feel by working in places where smoking is allowed such as bingo halls or clubs, the employee is knowingly exposing themselves to smoke and the health risks same with those who bring business to those places. However, previous legislation promised a smoke free work environment for all, not simply for those who can work a better job.

Oregon is taking strict steps to enforce this bill as it is something Oregon law makers believe in. There are fines and other consequences for being non-compliant to this bill for business owners. Being healthy and making sure Oregon workers are healthy is something in the forefront in the minds of all Oregon law makers and it should be the same for all Oregonians. No one wakes up one morning and thinking they want to die of lung cancer, it shouldn’t even be an option.

3 Common Surgical Solutions For Severe Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are as common as strikeouts in baseball. Each year millions of people suffer from their painful symptoms. Most hemorrhoids (80 to 90%) are successfully treated at home. However, the remaining 10 to 20 percent of hemorrhoid sufferers require specialized treatment in order to get relief for their severe hemorrhoids.

The severity of hemorrhoids is graded by the degree of prolapse. Prolapsed hemorrhoids begin internally but become so distended that they push themselves out of the rectum. If the sphincter muscle then spasms it can trap the prolapsed hemorrhoid outside of the rectum, cutting off its blood supply. When this happens the hemorrhoid is said to be “strangulated.”

Hemorrhoids are rated by degree of severity, from grade 1, the least severe to grade 4, the most severe. Grade 1 hemorrhoids have no prolapse whatsoever; grade 2 prolapse after a bowel movement, but spontaneously retract; grade 3 hemorrhoids prolapse after a bowel movement, but must be manually re-inserted and grade 4 hemorrhoids prolapse after a bowel movement but are trapped outside and cannot successfully be re-inserted. Both grades 3 and 4 hemorrhoids usually require specialized treatment. Some of the most common treatments for severe hemorrhoids are: ligation, hemorrhoid stapling, and hemorrhoidectomy.

Sometimes called the rubber band treatment, ligation, is the least invasive of the three treatments. In this procedure the physician places a rubber band around the prolapsed hemorrhoid. Within a few days both the hemorrhoid and the rubber band fall off. What remains is soreness and tenderness at the wound site. Usually within a week the soreness is gone.

Hemorrhoid stapling treats the hemorrhoid internally. A physician uses a special tool to staple and excise the hemorrhoid, which in turn, causes the hemorrhoid to shrink. Overall, this is a more painful procedure to remove severe hemorrhoids than ligation, but less painful the hemorrhoidectomy.

A hemorrhoidectomy is the surgical removal of the entire hemorrhoid. Physicians can choose the standard scalpel and suture method, or the laser method. Both are equally effective. Because of the recovery time involved in any surgery, hemorrhoidectomies are often the treatment of last resort. For the most part, hemorrhoidectomies are only advised for the severest hemorrhoids and for those cases where the patient has frequent recurrences.

A wide variety of treatments are currently available for the treatment of severe hemorrhoids. The three mentioned here are the most frequently recommended by doctors. However, there are certainly others equally effective available.

There have been a variety of fads and trends involving dance that have moved through every culture and society in the world. However, there has never been a dance that has lasted and produced more fascination than the ancient art of Arab belly dancing. This form of dance has been around since civilization itself and still continues to be practiced to this very day. What do we really know about this dance phenomenon?

The Beginnings of The Art

The term Arab belly dancing only came to be in the late nineteenth century. In traditional Arabic culture it is referred to as Raqs Sharqui or eastern dance. It is also sometimes called Raqs Baladi or folk dance. Whatever it is called it is a form of dance that has been passed down through the generations for its ritualistic and artistic nature. It has been traced through the civilizations of Alexander the Great and also Ancient Egypt. It is also seen in the history of India.

During the end of the Ottoman Empire the practice of this dance moved through the western world. The Arabic dancers were called upon to show their unique and powerful dance at world fairs and gatherings all over the world. The dance became more and more popular as more people were able to watch it performed. It began to see a slowdown when moral issues questioned the erotic nature of the dance. It became banished in many parts of the Arab world for many years.

The Look And Style

We have all seen the costumes that exist today for belly dancing. They don?t really resemble the costumes that were originally used. These current costumes seem to have gotten their popularity from Hollywood movies.

Whatever the type the costume is usually a bra top with a hip belt. The skirt is generally a layered skirt that is of many colors and patterns. The Hollywood version has added the veil that we often see with belly dancers today. It is meant to add an exotic flavor to the dance.

The Amazing Belly

Most belly dancers develop a dance that is unique for them. But most of them consist of a rolling circular motion in the belly. This coordination of the hips, shoulders and rolling the stomach muscles is incredibly difficult. There are men who can perform the same belly movements, but they usually use swords to turn the dance into a more masculine version of the dance.

The Benefits of Belly Dancing

It is very entertaining to watch a belly dancer perform their exotic movements. But in today’s culture of exercise and keeping fit, belly dancing has been discovered to be a great form of exercise. The flexibility that is displayed and the intense cardiovascular movements provide the practitioner quite a workout.

Belly dancing has come a long way from the culture of Arab countries. It has evolved into an art form and a fun exercise for all who practice it.

Although the Hoodia Gordonii plant has been in use for millenia, it has just recently become more popular in the West, specifically as an aid for losing weight. Due to media coverage, Hoodia Gordonii products are in demand, whether the product is Pure Hoodia or Hoodia is just one of several ingredients.

You may want to run right out and purchase a Hoodia supplement, but before you decide to take Hoodia, be sure to do some research. Studies have been performed on Hoodia Gordonii and its effect on weight loss, and you should take the time to read the results.

Once you are aware of the facts, you will be able to choose the products that will be most effective for weight loss and avoid the rest. Many types of Hoodia plants exist, but only products containing the Hoodia Gordonii type help suppress the appetite.

Seeing that the demand for Hoodia Gordonii is by far surpassing the supply, there are some Hoodia sellers that are producing unreliable products, but advertising them as Pure Hoodia. They may have been produced from a different Hoodia plant other than Hoodi Gordonii.

There are many companies claiming that their Hoodia extract can slim you down, but the only thing that has been proven so far is the ‘P57 molecule’. This is the active ingredient isolated in Hoodia Gordonii. This ingredient is licensed to the company, Phytopharm, who conducted the studies on it.

Their studies showed that morbidly obese people using ‘P57′ ate on average of 1k less calories per day. Clearly this is the reason why so many people think Hoodia for weight-loss is the new answer for obese and other people seeking to slim down.

It is very important to bear in mind that as long as the Hoodia products are extracted from real Hoodia Gordonii, it should also contain some of the active ingredient in it. Only the core of the plant has the active ingredient, as studies have shown.

The ultimate question is will you lose weight with Hoodia? The answer is a resounding yes! But only if you make sure you use supplements with genuine Hoodia Gordonii and not some substitute.
