Looking for Botox Treatment Information?
These days the quick fix for signs of aging like saggy skin and age lines is a course of botox injections; there is still a huge gap in most people’s knowledge about how it creates the effect it does. Before this can be done we need to go back a little in time to when this was originally discovered.
It may be famous now for its use in cosmetic surgery but it wasn’t always that way when it was first being studied by scientists half a century ago; originally the purpose of this was to treat neurological disorders.
In 1989 it was finally approved by the FDA to treat eye muscle disorders; these included blepharospasm (uncontrollable blinking), strabismus (crossed eyes) and even wrinkles.
In the year 2000 was given the all clear for the of treatment cervical dystonia. this disorder causes severe neck and shoulder contractions but they also permitted it to be used with other eye problems. The strange discovery they made quite by accident was that botox helps to reduce the visible lines between the eyebrows; it was after this discovery that it officially came into existence and was FDA approved for cosmetic use in 2002.
When Botox is injected into the muscles of the forehead, it blocks nerve impulses which results in the weakening of the muscles that cause frowning; given sufficient treatments, frown lines that the person has lived with for many years will gradually fade. In many cases the lines eventually disappear completely but it can also be injected into the muscles of the face that cause crows feet, forehead lines and frown lines. The form used in these injections is one that has been cleaned up and diluted, posing no threat these treatments are only a fraction of the true strength which, in other forms, could make us seriously unwell.
The reason people want to use the injections is because every time you laugh, smile, frown, or for that matter do just about anything with your facial muscles, wrinkles are caused by the underlying contractions of these muscles. After years of making these expressions the wear and tear on your face begins to be noticeable and the lines start to become permanent many cosmetic manufacturers have tried to create creams to eliminate the creases but this is the only treatment to date that can actually rid them from us.
Botox paralyzes the facial muscles which means everyday expressions we use in communication and take for granted cannot be made; because facial movement is reduced, it can give a doll like appearance to the user.
A person who has undergone this treatment still has enough movement to provide some expressions but they are limited; because most of the wrinkles and creases have all but disappeared, it appears that the person is younger than their true years. For some people the obvious downside to this treatment is the cost the average cost of just one injection in the United States ranges from a few hundred dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars, depending on where the injection is used. Whether there are any long term effects from continued use of botox is still unknown as the treatment is still to new but for those people who do use it, it doesn’t seem to matter.
