Baby Monitor for Parents’ Peace of Mind
Pregnancy is finally over, now you are ready to go home with your little bundle of joy. Having a baby is a wonderful thing; it brings endless moments of joy to the new parents. Parents, especially first-timers, would love to spend every minute of the day and night with their baby, but it’s just not possible. With a baby monitor, you can still hear your baby’s breathing and hear every little movement, which is almost as good as being in the room with them.
A baby monitor is actually a radio transmitter that enables you to listen in on your little one at all times of the day and night. Baby monitors are compact, two-part gadgets. There is a transmitter that is placed near the sleeping infant and a receiver that the parents keep near them. The receiver will amplify any noise that your little one makes.
Basically there are three kinds of baby monitor available in the market namely: audio, audio-visual, and movement or breathing monitors. You are entrusting the safety of your baby to the monitor when you are not in the nursery, so you would want to make sure that you purchase a reliable unit.
Audio baby monitors fall into two types: analog and digital. Traditionally, analog baby monitors were subject to lots of interference from other household items that gave off a wireless signal. So to guarantee an interference-free transmission and reception you will need a digital baby monitor. The higher-end digital baby monitors use something called DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Technology) technology.
While an audio monitor is sufficient for most people, some people value the extra security of having an audio-visual monitor where you can actually see your babies on a TV screen built into the receiver. If you decide to get an audio-visual monitor, make sure it has night vision capability, or it won’t be much use when it’s dark.
There are also baby monitors with mattress motion sensor wherein a pad is placed under the crib mattress that senses every move of the baby. It doesn’t mean that an alarm is going off frequently, as all babies move while they sleep, but when the baby doesn’t move for a specific amount of time then the alarm in the monitor will sound. This is especially good for peace of mind if you′re worried about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS); however, don’t rely on it as prevention.
We can never be too cautious and vigilant when it comes to our little ones. The peace of mind that parents gain from knowing that the baby is sleeping happily is immeasurable. So, a carefully chosen baby monitor really helps to give you that peace of mind wherever you are in your house.
Although a baby monitor is a great help in caring for infants, it can never be a substitute for proper parental supervision. So, you should always make sure you could get to your baby immediately whenever he or she needs you. Go to the Internet to find a very good selection of baby monitors at competitive prices.
