When you look in the mirror in the morning and then wish you hadn′t, then it’s time to start to think about doing something about the large tyre that has appeared round your middle.

The first thing to do is to have a really good look at what you are doing wrong. Don′t try and kid yourself, if you’ve put on weight there is a reason - actually, probably several.

When you decide that you want to be thinner, you have to be prepared to make a plan or course of action, work. This is not the time for half-hearted efforts. You either want it or you don′t. What sort of commitment are you prepared to make. Get this right at the onset will determine how successful you are going to be.

If you examine the causes of why you are overweight, you will soon realize that you are going to have to make some sacrifices. Gone will be the chocolate cookies and the burgers and all those sodas. You’re going to have to eat less as well. No more plates piled high with delicious food.

Have you any idea how many calories there are in the food that you eat every day. Is it a lot of a little? You may think it’s not much, but it may be much more than you think. Do you know how many calories you should take in every day? You need to be aware of these facts before you go any further or you are likely to make some fundamental mistakes.

What you must not do is to suddenly stop eating and reduce your calorie intake dramatically. If you do the long-term consequences will be that you put on weight - not take it off.

This might be an embarrassing question, but do you know how much exercise you take in a week? Be honest now! It’s not very much is it? Do you actually set out to take exercise every day? Is it something in your mind that you always do as a matter of routine?

What you need to understand is that exercise burns calories - it’s also good for you. It keeps you alert and healthy. If you’re serious about losing weight you should start to think about making an exercise plan. Exercise needs to become a habit - a slim habit, if you like. If you are prepared to change you have a better chance of being successful at losing weight. Change will come from learning new habits.

Parents of toddlers often wonder how to raise honest and respectful children. Teaching toddlers honesty and respect starts at home with parent child interactions. If you want your child to grow up respecting others and being honest you will have to provide a strong foundation of positive behavior.

If you are worried that your toddler will not grow up with these traits, you should make sure you are providing a foundation or good behavior at home. Here are six parenting skills that will help you to raise your toddler with respect and honesty.

Because parents are such an important part of your child’s life you need to model the behavior you want from your toddler. If you are respectful to your child your child will see this behavior and model it.

Likewise, being honest with your child you will also rub off on them and give them a foundation to model their own actions on. When they see you being honest they will naturally be honest as they have never been exposed to lying.

You also need the skills to identify your toddler’s feelings. Many toddlers do not have the words to express themselves and acknowledging their feelings will not only model respect but empathy as well.

Not only should you treat your child with respect and honesty to model the behavior you want, but you should also treat others in the way you would like your child to treat them. This will teach your child that everyone deserves respect and honesty.

When your child experiences disrespect either themselves or sees it happen to someone else you should deal with it in an age appropriate manner. Explain why the actions were not ok and how the situation should have been handled in a way that they can understand.

Reward your child when they act appropriately, don’t just punish them when they are bad. Children respond well to praise and positive reinforcement and it strengthens the behavior you want from them.

Parents of toddlers face many challenges as their children become independent and seek attention in both positive and negative ways. Raising honest respectful children has become harder as our culture changes but a strong foundation of positive behavior at home goes a long way in developing the behavior you want from your child. Show your child the right way to act and reward them for their positive actions and your toddler will learn respect and honesty.

Using Fish Oil Can Give You A Lifetime of Advantages

Fish oil is the best source of omega 3 fatty acids and research has proven that this can make us healthy for a lifetime.

What do we get from fish oil?

It can reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. It is also said to be good for the development of the brain. There are claims that it can help people get higher scores in IQ tests too. It is also said to reduce depression tendencies and gives fewer headaches. People experiencing arthritis should also try this as it can reduce arthritis pain. It is good for the heart and is a good protection against prostate and breast cancer. It can also help those with diabetes. It basically has a lot of health benefits.

Omega 3 fatty acid plays a very important role in our lives, starting from the time of conception. It helps both men and women to produce healthy sperm and egg cells respectively. It gives them sufficient amounts of EPA and DHA, which are very essential for a successful pregnancy.

As early as the time of pregnancy, a baby’s brain needs omega 3 fatty acids for its proper development. Fish intake can also help in the development of the brain as it has been known to be a food for the brain. According to scientists, a baby’s brain is made up of 70% long chain omega 3 fatty acids like DHA, and around more than 60% can be found in an adults brain as well.

At least 1200 mg of pure omega 3 fish oil that contains balanced ratios of EPA and DHA are recommended by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a supplement to the diet of pregnant and nursing mothers.

At least 1000 mg of pure omega 3 fish oil is also recommended as a daily supplement by the NIH to other adults. For what reason? Just view these results.

Scientific tests showed that the EPA and DHA in fish oil effectively prevent inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, ulcerative colitis, cystitis and other painful inflammatory disorders.

Although fish oil does not necessarily cure the said diseases, it does give safe and natural relief to the said health problems without side effects.

According to researchers, EPA and DHA helps in regulating blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels. It can help prevent heart diseases naturally. It also helps minimize irregular heartbeats and blood clots which is the number one cause of stroke and can lead to a possible cardiac arrest.

Finally, patients who are terminally ill with cancer can have a higher survival rate and better quality of life when using omega 3 fish oil supplement in their diet. Researchers have also reported that it can reduce effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

You probably know by know that supplementing your diet regularly with omega 3 fatty acids has a lot of benefits. It can also be noted that supplementing fish oil to our diet makes sense since the absence of omega 3 fatty acids can cause problems like depression, pre-menstrual syndrome, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, violence and suicide.

The results of a recent survey has been really devastating as it shows a huge number of around 85% of Americans as having fatty acids deficiency and 98% of pregnant and lactating women getting only less than 18% of the recommended amount by the NIH.

But there is one more shocking revelation; around 20% of the population of America has very low DHA and EPA, which are the two omega 3 fatty acids. Test results would reveal no traces of DHA and EPA in their blood.

You now have the chance not to have this deficiency. You can start eating fatty fish like herring, tuna, salmon, sardines, and anchovies. It would also be good to take in high quality and pure fish oil as a daily dietary supplement.

How Long Should I Diet? As Long As It Takes

New dieter’s alway asks “How long should I diet?” The usual answer is to stick with the diet until the ideal body weight is reached. However, this is simply not true.

Anyone who loses a few pounds by dieting seem to gain them all back (and more) after they go back to their eating habits, no matter how long they sustained the diet. Naturally, they’d like to know exactly how long it takes for a diet’s effects to stick for good.

If you’re wondering how long you should stick to your diet, I have good news and bad news. Here’s the bad news: there’s no diet duration. In other words, diets aren’t meant to be temporary. Diets are meant to be lifestyle changes. So how long should you stick to your diet? As long as you would like to stay at your ideal body weight.

The good news is that sticking to a diet can be easy. However, you don’t have to make a single drastic lifestyle change to lose all that weight! Many dieters failed this way because they try to change all their habits overnight. Instead, try breaking into your diet slowly and steadily. Below are some tips that can help you to easily stick to your diet for good.

Start small, but don’t stop growing.

Start your diet with small achievable sacrifices. A good way to start your diet would be to avoid all forms of soda and drink more water, natural fruit juice or low-fat milk for a couple of weeks. (Did you know that a can of soda can contain around ten teaspoons of sugar?) If you’re in charge, then it’ll be easier for you to stick with your diet than having to follow every ‘diet rule’. After getting used to this sacrifice, impose another manageable limit then another, and another until you reach all your goals in the weight loss process. Handling lifestyle changes would be easier to achieve if they come in small chunks.

Key factor exercise.

Dieting alone can manage your weight, but what makes the weight loss process a lot faster is through exercising for at least an hour, five times a week. Exercising prevents you from gaining weight just in case you revert back to your old eating habits. Going to the gym and taking up cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and flexibility routines will definitely help out the weight loss process. Exercising should be fun, like dancing, kickboxing, Yoga or whatever suits you, so that you will be able to stick to your diet more easily.

Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Always keep in mind that no matter ‘sinful’ a kind of food may be, it can always fit into your diet as long as it’s taken occasionally. Just eat more healthy food than ‘junk’ foods to balance your intake.

There will always come a time when even a flawless diet is bound to be disturbed. Missing a workout on a busy schedule from the office or drinking a toast for a friend’s wedding is just some of the many instances which are quite impossible to avoid. But don’t get so worked up over these stumbling blocks. Try getting back on the right track as quickly as possible. If everything goes well, your weight will still continue to drop.
