Acne Treatments: Don’t Settle For Dry Skin

Acne is a common skin condition that often flares up during puberty. Hormonal changes, Vitamin A deficiencies, bacteria and other factors can cause this irritating problem.

Two of the biggest issues with acne are the overproduction of sebum (the oily substance that blocks the pores and leaves the skin feeling greasy) and the bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes. This bacterium causes inflammation and produces enzymes that break down the sebum into an irritating substance. The result is red, swollen skin and ugly pimples.

By targeting the main components of acne breakouts you can drastically improve the look and feel of your skin. However, while there are a number of treatments aimed at disinfecting and clearing your skin, many of them also leave your skin feeling dry and flaky. That is why it is important to choose your acne treatment carefully.

The Problem With Acne Treatments

Many acne treatments are designed to dry up the excess oil (sebum) on your face and kill the bacteria that cause the inflammation. While this sounds good, the treatments often only target the top layer of skin, leaving it feeling dry and uncomfortable. On an already irritated face this has the potential to cause other problems. A better choice is to treat the issues using products that will leave the skin feeling moisturized without clogging the pores or adding excess oil.

You’ve recognised that you or someone you care about needs help. So let’s look at the options - for treatment for drug addiction and alcoholism addiction treatment.

As far as I’m concerned your first point of call should always be rehab - or a proper treatment center - where you spend 3-6 weeks getting yourself sober/clean. (Times do vary depending on where you go)

Why would rehab or an inpatient program be my first choice? Because it not only helps you detox - but with its intensive therapy and counselling will help you deal with a lot of the emotional baggage that causes you to drink and take drugs.

And you’re just not going to get that same level of intensive treatment and care unless you go to an inpatient treatment program like Rehab. Plus a good rehab will begin preparing you in terms of what you need to do when you hopefully make a fresh start after having left treatment.

Many people automatically think treatment or rehab is going to be unaffordable. Many rehabs are government subsidised so whatever your financial position - do your research - because it doesn′t mean it will be impossible for you to go.

I honestly believe rehab should always be your first choice, but what are your other options? You could try addiction and alcoholism self-help approaches, which would involve you working on the spiritual, emotional and mental aspects of yourself - and therefore provide enormous potential for growth and transformation. I don′t have space to go into detail here (check out my website for that). I still think however that rehab is your best bet (at least initially) - because trying to do it yourself is so much harder.

Alternative alcoholism and addiction treatments are also becoming more popular. Alternative alcoholism treatments and the like definitely have a role to play - but I still think they should be used alongside a more traditional approach first - because there is so much to gain from the professionals who help you in a place like rehab.

Therefore when considering treatments for drug addiction or alcoholism addiction treatment options - make getting into a treatment center/rehab your priority. Things like alternative alcoholism treatment and addiction/alcoholism self-help methods can play a massive part - but going to rehab will just give you that head start, and so make recovery that much easier.
