Lots of new Moms put off losing the baby fat and then when they do get around to it they are even heavier than when they first gave birth. It’s easy to make excuses when you have a newborn but here are the ABC’s of losing pregnancy weight.

A is for Abdominals:

Going for a run and climbing a stair master won’t trim your tummy completely. Incorporating resistance training and free weights into your exercise routine will help lose the pregnancy weight faster. Getting a toned, lean body comes more easily once you do some light weight lifting.

Getting your hands on some free weights, as well, will work those muscles and burn calories faster. You can burn the baby fat by burning through reps and sets of weight lifting and be done in 15 minutes.

B is for Blueberries:

Eating healthy is not only important for young Moms but for their babies too. You wouldn’t feed a newborn a bag of potato chips or a sugary can of pop. Keeping things healthy helps when forming a life long habit of eating well.

Often new Moms try and block out carbs in hopes of lowering their caloric intake. This is a mistake - it’s vital that the body gets all the food groups to balance out what your muscles needs like protein and carbohydrates. You can exercise all you want but without a healthy diet you won’t effectively lose the pregnancy weight for the long term.

C is for Caridovascular:

Cardio is the one area that doesn’t need any convincing. Moms know that they need to get their feet moving but the common misconception will be that they need hours on the treadmill to lose the pregnancy weight. On the contrary, when first trying to boost your metabolism, it’s best to do short interval cardio workouts at maximum intensity to increase your energy level and strengthen your heart.

Interval training helps make sure your body doesn’t get used to what you are doing. If you do the same walk around the block every day the calories you burn for that walk will plateau and so will your weight loss. But if you mix it up with light jogs or heavy hikes you will challenge your system. Try and do little sprints within your workout to push yourself and increase your heart rate.

With the ABC’s of fitness you are starting with the basics and thereby laying the foundation to live a healthy lifestyle. These ABCs are crucial to the success of losing the baby fat. Many Moms only do two out of three or even just one and never see the results they want. Keep these three in mind when setting up your schedule and remember when you go Fab, you can’t go back to Flab!

Weight Gain After Menopause

If you talk to many 50-something age women, it won’t take long to learn menopause and weight gain seem to go hand in hand for most of them. It’s a common complaint among women in that age group.

they often don’t understand why they are now gaining weight in other parts of the body, usually in the stomach area, even though they did not have a problem with that when they were younger.

Hormonal changes have a lot to do with it, although it’s still a mystery in some areas. When a woman reaches menopause and stops ovulation, the body produces significantly lower levels of estrogen.

Low estrogen has caused weight gain in laboratory animals and it can be fairly safely assumed that this is why the female body changes shape. During childbearing years, fat is stored in the lower body. After menopause, women store more fat in the abdomen, just like men. The danger of abdominal fat is a greater risk of heart disease.

Furthermore, both men and women lose muscle mass as they get old, unless they have regular exercise that includes strength training, and the metabolism slows down. If you do not change your eating habits, you are bound to gain weight. At 50 or 60, you need fewer calories than you did when you are 30 or 40.

One suggestion is to use hormonal therapy to control some of the side effects of menopause. Contrary to popular belief, it does not cause weight gain. You may have some water retention and subsequent bloating, but this is normally a temporary condition, and is not indicative of added fat. But there are still some debate around this therapy, because it has been linked to breast cancer in some studies.

So does this mean that there is nothing we can do? Of course not! There are steps that you can do to minimize the effects of menopausal induced weight gain that don’t involves injecting hormones into your system.

1. Don’t stop eating. Just make better choices. Eat the foods you know are good for you as part of a low fat diet. Get plenty of fiber and stay away from sugar and refined flour products.

2. Exercise regularly. Your metabolism is not the only thing that slows down as you age. Work is often less demanding physically, you’re not running around chasing kids, your vacations are probably not as active as when you were younger, and in general you just do things a bit more slowly than before. You’d be amazed at what just 30 minutes of moderate activity every day will do for you.

3. Maintain your muscle mass by lifting hand weights or adding ankle weights when you walk. Of course, you should check with your doctor first before starting any exercise program if you’re currently being treated for any medical conditions.

4. Love yourself. Even if you’ve put on a few pounds and your waist is thicker than it used to be, try to be okay with that. Like Mammy told Scarlett in Gone with the Wind, “You ain’t never gonna have an 18 inch waist again!”. Accept that and appreciate your life.

Another way is to use my Weight Loss Breeze Program. It contains simple exercises that take only a few minutes a day to do and makes losing weight at any age a breeze.

Many have fallen victim to marketing schemes making extravagant claims that you will rapidly shed pounds while continuing to eat everything in sight. Let’s consider a number of the most well-known myths out there about this industry. Some of the more popular stories going around about the industry are these.

Myth #1: No carbohydrates. The most popular diets today all follow the concept of high protein, low carb. If you attempt to diet in this way you will almost inevitably end up regaining all the lost weight and more on top, even though initial results may be dramatic.

Myth # 2: Genetics is the most important Factor. If you have obese parents and grandparents do not think that you will be obese, genetics only play a small role in determing your metabolism. The most important factor in determining your success in any weight loss program is the number of calories you eat and the amount of physical activity you get in a single day. One’s genetic make-up does affect his or her ability to burn calories; those with a slower metabolism can burn fewer calories than people who engage in physical activity and have a faster metabolism. Don’t say you have a slow metabolism, because there are many ways to accelerate it.

Myth # 3: You must avoid fat. People believe that fat intake increases your weight. But the key to effective fat control is cutting down on the dangerous fats and increasing your intake of the good fat. In order to escape from Trans fat and saturated fat, you have to eat polyunsaturated and Omeg-3 that loaded in foods like fish, olive oil, and avocados, it can increase the intake of healthy fats.

Myth # 4: Missing meals. Contrary to popular belief, missing meals is not a good idea as it results in a lowered metabolic rate and a consequent difficulty in losing excess weight. It is important to eat regular meals so you can avoid the temptation to binge but be sure you eat nutrition rich foods that are low in calories like salads, fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains - you can eat more so you stay full longer. Sticking to snacks such as a piece of juicy watermelon instead of your favorite ice cream is important.

Myth # 5: Avoid white food. As opposed to popular beliefs, some of the “white” foods that are good for you include pears, avocadoes, and nuts - the key being that the nutrients contained in those foods are more important than their color.

Myth # 6: The Grapefruit Miracle. This old legend has no truth to it. There is a group of individuals who are promoting grapefruit as a way to lose fat. In fact there is one small isolated research that states that there is a a magic fat-burning enzyme that can help you lose weight simply by consuming this fruit. As yet there has been no questions as to the veracity of these claims and whether the cirtrus industry infact had a part in the funding of this type of research. Grapefruits are rich in lycopene, which provide nutrients and prevent cancer and heart diseases and take care of cellular health.

We have here presented to you some of the most common myths surrounding weight loss, some of which you may have heard of previously. Once you know the facts, your weight loss strategy is wide open for you, and a healthier lifestyle.

How To Decide On The Right Wedding Hairstyle

Choosing your wedding hairstyle can be a difficult task. If you′re having trouble finding the right one for you, you′re not alone - lots of women have this problem.

That’s because the right wedding hairstyle does more than just look good. It also needs to be a style that you′re comfortable in all day, no matter where you′re getting married. It shouldn’t cost too much, either. Here are some hints to assist you in getting the right style.

First, get start early by collecting photos of styles you like. That’ll allow you to easily figure out the styles you like and the ones you don’t.

Be realistic when you choose these photos. It’s a poor idea to make a drastic change right before the wedding, so if you′re thinking about a big color change or length change, do these early and get used to the idea. It’s a good idea to look for wedding hair styles meant for the same general length and type of hair you already have.

Getting the perfect style can be easier if you know your face shape. That way, you′ll be able to rule out styles that don’t suit you. Not sure what shape your face is? Take a look in the mirror and analyze things.

If you′re not finding it easy to decide what your face shape is, measure how wide your jaw, forehead, and cheekbones are, as well as how long your face is. If you′re having trouble measuring, trace the outline of your face in a mirror, then measure that drawing.

If your forehead and jaw are the same width, and narrower than your cheekbones, you have the ideal egg shape. This face works with almost any wedding hair style, but avoid styles that rest on your face, because they can distort the shape.

Round faces are about as long as they are wide, and should wear styles that make them look longer. Try a longer style cut below chin length or short styles cut above the chin. Don’t wear a short style that’s very curly or a long one that’s pulled back tightly, however.

Heart shaped faces are narrow-jawed and wide at the forehead. If you have this face shape, try a chin length curled bob, but don’t wear your hair slicked back or in a style that’s too full at the forehead.

Faces that are all the same width and have a similar length measurement are square. Think about a wedding hairstyle that’s soft and layered, or wear longer hair that comes past your shoulders. Side swept fringes are flattering, but geometric cuts aren’t.

When choosing your wedding hairstyle, be sure to think about your level of comfort. Wear a style that works with the place and style of your wedding, and remember to think about what makes you feel best. If you don’t like tight updos or trailing locks, don’t wear them to your wedding.

The most important thing about your wedding hairstyle should be comfort - after all, feeling awkward will ruin a beautiful style. If you can, practice wearing your wedding hair so you′ll get used to it.

Morning Sickness - What A Terrible Choice of Words!

INTRODUCTION: Morning sickness is the sickning feeling you get during pregnancy and can be, but is not always, accompanied by vomiting. These nauseating feelings, which can actually happen at any time of the day, can really put a damper on your excitement about your pregnancy. It can only become a problem for your baby if you can’t keep any foods or fluids down and begin to lose a lot of weight. This condition and the others that occur around this time are almost always mild enough to manage on your own and occurs in 50 to 80 percent of new mother’s to be.

NAUSEA AND VOMITING: Nausea and vomiting can be one of the first signs of pregnancy and usually begins around the 6th week after conception and continue beyond your 4th month of pregnancy. These signs usually go away 12 to 14 weeks into pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting are the most common complaints of pregnant women and can be made worse by lying on her side.

This nausea seems to stem, at least in part, from rapidly rising levels of estrogen, which causes the stomach to empty more slowly. You should always contact your health care provider: If you are experiencing excessive nausea and vomiting that prevents you from keeping any food down, If vomiting is accompanied by pain or fever, If nausea and vomiting persists well into the second trimester (after 13th week).

TREATMENT: The most important thing is to inform your physician when these symptoms appear and discuss possible solutions. Severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum) may neccesitate a stay in the hospital and treatment with intravenous (IV) fluids and medications, including anti-emetics, which control nausea.

Some women do not seek treatment for morning sickness because of concerns about treatment safety. Yet, once symptoms progress, treatment can become more difficult. Mild cases may be resolved with lifestyle and dietary changes, and safe and effective measures are available for more severe cases. Your best course of action for managing the nausea and vomiting is home treatment. These measures include: Changing what, when, and how much you eat.

Therefore, during the first-trimester use home remedies for your symptoms, unless your physician recommends medicine. Taking Vitamin B6 or Vitamin B6 plus doxylamine (an antihistamine) is safe and effective and should be used as a first-line treatment. Although ginger ale or ginger tea may decrease mild nausea, your best bet for treating with ginger is with regular daily use. With any over-the-counter supplement, including herbs, it’s always a good idea to check with your MD first, particularly to make sure the symptoms aren’t related to a more serious condition that requires medical treatment.

However, few women gain complete relief from morning sickness with any treatment. If you’re looking for medical advice, a diagnosis, or treatment, consult your doctor or other qualified medical professional.

CONCLUSION: Morning sickness, which can occur at any time of the day or night, is one of the classic symptoms of pregnancy. The term is a misnomer, since it can happen at any time of the day or night and is more common with women who are under a great deal of stress, either at work or home.

Signs can range from mild, occasional nausea to severe, continuous, disabling nausea with episodes of vomiting and generally improves by the 13th or 14th week of pregnancy, but some women continue to feel nausea into their second trimester. Also, it may be more severe if this is your 1st pregnancy or if you’re carrying multiple fetuses.

Most women who experience morning sickness notice a dramatic improvement after the 1st trimester - at roughly 13 weeks. For prevention: Eat frequent small meals, every two or three hours, rather than 3 large meals daily. Try ginger, which has proven effective in fighting morning sickness. Proven ginger products include: ginger tea, ginger candy, and ginger soda. Call your physician if your symptoms do not improve, despite trying these treatments.
