The focus of this product review is one of the massage chairs from the Real Pro Elite line from Panasonic. The Real Pro Elite represents a cohesive approach to consistent massage therapy techniques and mechanisms in each recliner. We will take an in depth look at the EP 1272 model.

One of the important aspects of the purchase is your long term protection. The warranty coverage is designed to remove the longer term risk from the purchase. Let us take a look at what Panasonic offers with the EP-1272. This model comes with 3 years parts and 1 year labor. Labor is only available at authorized outlets which is not too convenient. Panasonic now offers in home service, but does not include it with this model. We find this warranty under par for the rest of the industry.

There are some interesting features on the EP 1272. Some of the more important are the 4 one-touch automatic programs, 8 manual massage techniques and the 3 manual back courses. There is also effective lower body coverage to target the feet and calves.

Choose from the 4 one touch programs for your convenience. These one touch programs include Swedish, shiatsu, stretch and quick. Swedish targets the loosening of the back, neck and shoulders with long strokes, circular motions and other rhythmic movements. Shiatsu stimulates the back, neck and shoulders with a soft, deep rubbing motion and tapping actions. Stretch will use rolling, pressing, shiatsu and kneading massages to target the back and shoulders. Quick gives a fast overall massage with emphasis on the back, neck and shoulders for a relieving massage.

The 8 manual massage modes include the following massage techniques: kneading, compression, Swedish, Hawaiian, soft shiatsu, tapping, regional rolling and full rolling. Kneading is particularly effective for the neck and shoulders. Compression is recommended for full body relaxation. Swedish loosens up large areas of the back. Hawaiian helps to relieve tension in the lower back. Soft shiatsu is excellent for loosening up knots in the back. Tapping loosens up the finer muscles of the neck or as a finishing massage. Regional rolling provides focused rolling out of the back muscles. Full rolling provides overall stretching of the back muscles.

The EP1272 shiatsu massage recliner comes with a leg rest massager. The leg rest can massage both your feet and your calves. You can raise the leg rest more horizontal and place you feet in it for a soothing foot massage. The leg rest comes with built in air bags that gently inflate to provide a compression massage. The compression massage is excellent for relieving tight, sore muscles.

The remote control of the EP 1272 is well designed. The main automatic programs work from one-touch buttons. The manual massage functions are contained in a middle side panel of the main remote. The side panel can be flipped open to reveal the manual controls. You can adjust the massage intensity or speed. There is a function to adjust the width of the back rollers. This is used on the tapping, soft shiatsu and rolling massages. You can also select the area of focus for the back. There are options for the neck/shoulders, lower back and for pinpointing.

Overall, the Real Pro Elite model EP 1272 is a well designed shiatsu recliner. It comes with an excellent variety of massage therapies and can be effectively targeted to specific regions. The design aesthetics of the chair could have been better along with the warranty. The Panasonic EP 1272 does deliver effective massage therapy, so if you are in the market for a mid range massage chair, then this deserves your serious consideration.

Novelty Neckties are not only a fashion statement, but a trend

Novelty neckties can be funny and amuse those around you if worn at the right time. But are you sure you know when it’s appropriate to wear one?

Although having a sense of humor is something to be proud of, not everyone can see the funny side of things. Making a joke at the right time when tensions run high can help everyone laugh at themselves and the situation they find themselves in. There are some people that are determined to remain humorless though, whatever the situation.

These gloomy folks aside, most people are aware there is a right time to make a statement with a novelty necktie and a wrong time.

Choosing the right necktie for the right occasion is not a skill that everyone possesses, and novelty necktie wearers are no exception.

With the wide choice of novelty neckties to be found, you can make choices as diverse as your favorite film star, hobby, pet, the alcohol brand you prefer, or anything else you may find amusing or interesting. Wearing these at the right time and place is fine, but choosing to wear a novelty necktie to an important conference for instance is neither the time nor the place.

Use a bit of sensitivity when choosing your necktie for work. After all, wearing an ‘Edward Scissorhands’ necktie won’t make your patients feel any easier if you are a surgeon!

Your novelty necktie with ‘real men eat burgers’ on it may be fine in a burger joint but will go down like a lead balloon in a smart vegetarian restaurant. You may well see the funny side of it, but your dining companions may just feel embarrassed.

If you have to wear one because you feel invisible in a tasteful but ultimately boring plain silk number, then there are a lot more subtle and less ‘loud’ novelty neckties to choose from.

Some other types you can choose could be based on works of art for example, or maybe just show some sort of beautiful scenery that shouldn’t offend anyone.

If you stubbornly refuse to tone it down, try and choose a novelty necktie with a small and subtle repeat pattern on it. Some of the connoisseur range depict tiny wine glasses (no good at a recovering alcoholics meeting), and others have little coffee cups for example. Seen from a distance they look like patterned ties, but if you get close enough you can see what they are.

So you see you don’t have to give up your personality by being too sober or dowdy when making a choice of necktie, just ensure you are mindful of the event you are wearing it to.

There are many new designs being introduced in the novelty necktie market each year as their popularity continues to rise. You never know, you may even find one as a Christmas present for one of your humorless colleagues that will bring a smile to their face!

I know when you hear the word simple it can sound a little bit ridiculous especially when it comes to stubborn belly fat. We would love to wave that magic wand and get rid of it for good.

With that said you must understand that belly fat is just really bad for you and can lead to all sorts of health challenges such as heart disease and diabetes.

Just because it is simple does not mean it is easy however what we can do is outline a few key factors which will help you get rid of that stubborn fat.

What you need to do first is examine what you eat, food is fuel and provides energy for the body, if you find that you burn less energy than you take in the inevitably you will start to store excess energy as fat.

So learn about what you’re eating. Protein requires extra work to digest so make sure and eat more protein as this will use a little more energy.

As the saying goes, “variety is the spice of life”, and variety is your friend when it comes to exercising. This will break up your routines and prevent your body form reaching a plateau and storing fat once again for future use.

There are varieties of exercises that you can do along with cardio training to pack that extra punch and after a heavy meal if you can go for a nice brisk walk it will help to burn up some of that energy you took in while eating.

In conclusion, while it is simple to say these things - it may not be as easy to implement them; however your health and your quality of life depend on it, so take a little time out to take care of yourself and you will be glad you did.

If you’re reading about a homemade colon cleanse, it’s because you know how important colon health is to the whole health equation.

It’s impossible to feel energetic and alive if a major part of your body is not in good shape.

So, what are you searching for in a homemade colon cleanse? As you search, you will likely come across all sorts of things: from soups to raw eggs. But be cautious in what you choose for your body.

Review these 3 steps first, before you run out and try something new:

1 — Do you find yourself running after the latest fads? Take a stand for your health, knowing at the end of the day it’s up to you. Of course, you can seek advice from doctors and other professionals, but it’s your health. And without health, what else is there?

2 — Are you looking to address the root causes of any challenges you are facing with your digestive system? Then buying colon cleansing products or making them yourself by buying the ingredients separately (and for less) will not be enough.

What your body needs is lots of nutrients and for the toxins to stop coming in so quickly. Then the best homemade colon cleanse is to eat the raw organic veggies you’ve known you need to eat more of. That way you get the fiber, enzymes and nutrients your body needs. And of course, please drink lots of clean, toxin free water; half your body weight in ounces is the minimum daily requirement.

3 — Now, address the colon directly. When you start eating and drinking the right things, you can still give a little push and help the colon eliminate the old waste that has been impacted in the colon walls. Give it a bath. If you’ve never done an enema, it may sound scary, but it’s actually quite easy.

If you really don’t want to do an enema yourself, you can go to a professional colonic therapist. The colon cleaning you get there is much deeper and more thorough than you can do at home.

You may read in some places that diet doesn’t matter in a homemade colon cleanse, that if you just buy their product, all will be well. Don’t believe it, it’s very important to take control of what you allow into your body.

Try doing some of the basics steps you already know. You’ll see some wonderful results. That’s because your body is meant to be self-healing. Just get out of the way and give it a little help.

Menopause: A Normal Part Of Life - NOT A Disease!

INTRODUCTION: Menopause is the time in a woman’s life when menstruation stops permanently, signifying the end of her ability to produce children and is diagnosed when a woman has gone without a period for 1 full year. It is considered premature if it happens before the age of forty, or artificial if radiation exposure, chemotherapeutic drugs, or surgery induces it. Menopause is something that happens to every women as they get older.

HOT FLASHES: Hot flashes are possibly the most troublesome symptom associated with nearing menopause and are experienced by a majority of women during the transition period (no pun intended). An old Chinese therapy provides some menopausal women with another option for their hot flashes.

For others however, the decreasing levels of estrogen associated with menopause may produce more distressing symptoms that include: Mood swings - Reduced sex drive - Hot flashes - Sweating - Racing heart (palpitations) - Headaches - Vaginal dryness and soreness - Trouble sleeping and Thinning bones (osteoporosis). These symptoms can last from a few months to up to 10 years.

HORMONES: Known as the “change of life”, It is the last stage of a gradual biological process in which the ovaries reduce their production of female sex hormones–a process which begins about 3 to 5 years before the final menstrual period. When you are in your mid-30′s, your ovaries begin to change how much estrogen and progesterone (two female hormones) they make.

During this time, known as perimenopause, which can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years, the brain continues to send out hormones in an attempt to stimulate the development of ovarian follicles, and it is common for a woman’s ovaries to respond erratically, so that her hormones fluctuate considerably from month to month. It continues to create hormones even after ovulation ceases, producing some estrogen and also androgens (male hormones) including testosterone.

To best understand what happens at menopause, it is useful to know about the physiology of menstruation and the hormones that are involved in your monthly cycle. Shifts in hormones are a primary contributor to that sense of physical, mental, and emotional imbalance that may characterize a woman’s experience of menopause.

Many women find that the right combination of herbs, exercise, nutritional support, and natural hormones helps them to manage most of their symptoms. Eventually your ovaries stop producing estrogen and other hormones.

CANCER: Your chances for heart disease, cancer, and bone thinning (osteoporosis) rise after menopause. You should be checked regularly for colon, rectal and skin cancer. If you have a family history of breast cancer, check with your physician about your risk. If you have a uterus and decide to take estrogen, you need to also take progesterone to prevent endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of the uterus).

“There’s been much experimental evidence and patient experience showing estrogen given alone can cause endometrial cancer,” says FDA’s Smith. Endometrial cancer is not the only risk from estrogen use. It is not understood whether estrogen use increases the risk of breast cancer, or what effect adding progestin might have on this risk. In recent years, several studies on breast cancer and estrogen use have been carried out, with conflicting results, says Smith.

TREATMENT: Menopause has become increasingly medicalized, which means it is seen as something that requires intervention and treatment rather than as a natural life change that may benefit from support. You don’t require treatment for it unless your symptoms bother you. Be sure to talk to your MD about your possible health risks prior to starting a treatment for menopausal symptoms.

There are also “natural” treatments for the symptoms that can be bought over-the-counter, without a prescription. You can begin or end the treatment at any time.

CONCLUSION: Menopause is a natural process and not a disease. It is a normal part of life just like puberty. Part of the stigma is its association with aging, but we age no more rapidly in our 50s than in any other decade of life. In the United States, the average age is 51, with most women usually reaching natural menopause somewhere between 40 and 58 years of age. If you’ve never been an exerciser, it is a great excuse to make the change.
