There are many courses of action that an individual can take to maintain or increase their level of physical health. Some of those actions include eating a proper diet that is low in cholesterol, rich in fiber and a decrease in sugar consumption. In addition, a proper diet should be at the appropriate level of calorie consumption to either maintain or decrease one’s weight.

Being involved in a physical fitness plan is another important component to maintaining one’s health. This plan should consist of at least two major components. Specifically, one type of exercise to increase the cardiovascular level combined with exercises that stimulate the body’s muscles.

Beginning Steps

Undergoing a physical fitness test is important before beginning any physical fitness program. This can be accomplished at a medical office or can be conducted at professional health center.

Ascertaining the level of physical fitness of the individual, their stamina and the strength of the cardiovascular system is the purpose of this process. An appropriate physical fitness plan can be developed to match the physical capabilities of the individual, based on the results.

Stimulating The Cardiovascular System

Increasing the stamina of the cardiovascular system is one of the key elements of a quality physical fitness plan. The cardiovascular system consists of the heart and lungs.

The purpose of this stimulation is to strengthen the heart muscle and to work the lungs which in turn will provide an increased supply of oxygenated blood throughout the blood stream. This is in turn will have a positive effect on all organs within the body.

Swimming, aggressive walking, bicycling and running are examples of a sound physical fitness plan that will accomplish this goal.

Exercising The Muscles

Giving attention to the muscles of the body is another important aspect of a good physical fitness plan. This is important because the muscles of the body not only allow you to move, but support the skeletal framework

Weight lifting, resistance exercises, swimming and biking are examples of exercises that accomplish this goal. Furthermore, a physical fitness plan that includes concentration on the muscles should be done on a consistent basis. it is not necessary to lift large amounts of weight, just more repetitions of less weight. As the body ages this is especially true.

For example if weights are chosen the upper body muscles can be exercised Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Additionally, the lower body muscles can be worked on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Rosacea is a skin condition that is often assumed to be acne or a sign of alcoholism. Some physicans think it is a vascular problem at core. For people who have this skin condition, it is very challenging. It is a chronic medical problem with no cure at this time. The symptoms are real and can cause emotional struggles and can be quite physically painful as well. However, many times the symptoms of rosacea can be treated or minimized.

What are the symptoms of rosacea? If you experience any of the following signs, you should consult a dermatologist right away. 1) Red or inflamed areas on the cheeks, forehead, nose, or chin 2) Visible blood vessels in the facial area 3) Pimples or bumpy areas on the face (other than whiteheads or blackheads) 4) Cheeks look flushed, but are not warm to touch (although sometimes is warm to the touch) 5) Watery eyes or irritated eyes in conjunction with the symptoms mentioned above 6) Thickening of the skin (occasionally) 7) Swelling of facial areas 8) Over time, the nose may appear extremely red and bulbous, especially in older men 9) Sometimes rosacea appears on the chest, scalp, ears, or neck

The cause of rosacea is not known. It seems to show up in both women and men sometime between 20 and 40 years of age. Women can sometimes become housebound if their rosacea isn′t controlled. They might become ashamed and embarrassed by the ruddy appearance of their facial skin. Men are sometimes emotionally affected as well.

Coping with rosacea can be a challenge. First and foremost, see a dermatologist. Rosacea can go into remission if you are careful to follow his recommendations. Along with medication, there are lifestyle changes that can be made to reduce that the flares of rosacea won′t occur as often. Limit your exposure to sun and wind, be vigilant about using a good quality sunscreen. Try to keep stress levels at a minimum by adopting a healthy lifestyle and spending quiet time each day. Alcohol should be avoided as it tends to trigger a flush. If you enjoy a bath, use warm water instead of really hot water. Exercise is not off limits, but try low-impact forms of exercise in place of high impact ones, or swimming would be great. Try to exercise in cooler weather. Hot weather will worsen rosacea symptoms. Some people who suffer from rosacea react to hot beverages or spicy food

There are home remedies that seem to have helped some rosacea sufferers. Creams containing green tea, Chrysanthellum Indicum, Niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3), or Azelaic Acid have been reported to help reduce the appearance of blood vessels and red capillaries when applied topically.

Some people who suffer from rosacea react to hot beverages or spicy food. If this is true for you, try warm beverages and not so spicy food.

If your doctor doesn′t prescribe special facial cleansers or products, I have found the following helpful. Use a very mild facial cleaner such as Oil of Olay sensitive skin facial cloths or Dove’s version. Be very gentle while washing your face, no heavy scrubbing. Do not use abrasive scrubs or astringent type products. I like using for moisture Neutrogena’s oil free moisturizer, and sometimes use pure emu oil as well. Many anti aging products tend to cause flare-ups. For cosmetics I like natural mineral makeup. There are many good brands out there. Try to get a green color corrector type product as a base under foundation, green counteracts the red of the skin and helps camouflage it so it looks more natural.

Men should use an electric razor instead of a razor blade to shave each morning in order to reduce irritation. Follow up with a gentle light non-scented moisturizer.

Rosacea can be a very difficult skin disorder to have, and is many times greatly misunderstood. With proper treatment and lifestyle adjustments, it can be managed well and symptoms minimized.

If you or a loved one receives a diagnosis of diabetes, this is nothing less than a complete life change. Diabetics must be mindful of their blood sugar levels to keep their disease in check. One of the most important parts of doing so is watching what you eat. You want to ensure that you are getting your fruits and vegetables, along with plenty of lean protein. Some foods can be added to your diet to help keep diabetes under control - keep reading to see ten foods which can be helpful to diabetics.

Two of the best fruits: Apples and Pomegranates.

Diabetics are typically told not to eat any white foods. However, one exception is apples. They can help reduce the body’s need for insulin and they have a lot of pectin, which helps the body to detoxify. This makes apples an especially good food for diabetics.

Pomegranates are a very popular fruit in the Middle East and the Balkan region of Europe. This is also a fruit which has been finding more popularity in the U.S. and with good reason - studies have shown the sugar that this fruit contains does not have an effect on blood sugar levels. Additionally, diabetics who drank 6 ounces of pomegranate juice daily were found to have a lower risk of atherosclerosis.

A couple of spices: Cinnamon and Garlic.

Cinnamon is an amazingly good food for diabetics - it contains MHCP which helps your fat cells to more efficiently do their job of responding to insulin by reducing glucose in the blood.

Garlic is another food which has been shown to have a positive impact on keeping diabetes under control. Garlic can lowed blood sugar levels measurably.

Best breakfast food: Oatmeal.

We all know that diabetics are supposed to stay away from carbs, but oatmeal is a good carb to eat. Just don’t get sweetened oatmeal and you’ll actually be doing something good for yourself. Oatmeal contains a lot of fiber and digests slowly, keeping blood sugar levels stable; this effect has also been shown to persist.

The best vegetables: Green beans, Spinach and Broccoli.

These three vegetables all contain lots of fiber and are low in carbohydrates. They are thus very good choices for diabetics. It’s alright to have potatoes, peas and corn on occasion, but these vegetables are starchy, which means they have a lot of carbohydrates. You should eat them sparingly, while loading up on green leafy vegetables.

The must have in a diabetic diet: Protein.

The ideal diet for diabetics should contain somewhere between 12% and 20% protein. If you tend to have a snack before bed, it should definitely be protein. This will help your blood sugar level to stay consistent throughout the night.

Go for lean proteins like poultry, nuts, lentils, fish and soy. These are the best sources of protein for your diet.

These are ten foods which every diabetic should incorporate into their diet. These foods all assist in keeping blood sugar levels under control which means you’ll need less medication - and you’ll be reducing the risk for many of the health problems which commonly accompany diabetes.
