Many people are starting to use Acai for weight loss. There are many products and programs on the market that claim to help people lose weight but recently more and more people are interested in using acai for weight loss. You will hear more and more stories about how people are successful losing weight using acai.

What is Acai? When people talk about acai, they really mean the acai berry which is the fruit of the acai tree which is a type of palm tree. The acai tree is native to tropical, rain forest countries such as Brazil. The acai tree has been around for a long time and many people in Brazil and other tropical rain forest countries have eaten acai for a long time. Other countries, however, have just recently started paying attention to the acai berry.

Over the past years, there have been lots of research done on the benefits of the acai berry and scientists have been amazed at how healthy the berry is. The acai berry seems to have all the nutrients that a body needs. It has protein similar to an egg, fatty acid, phytonutrients and antioxidants even more than blueberry. The berry also has a low glycemic index which is very healthy. The list of all the healthy substances in the acai berry is lengthy and amazing.

People have only started noticing that acai is great for weight loss because manufacturers of acai products rarely advertise the weight loss benefits of the acai berry. Because the acai is so healthy, its health benefits far exceed its weight loss benefits. However, when people start eating the acai berry or acai juice, they notice that their health has improved and along with it, weight loss. So, acai lovers unofficially claims that using acai for weight loss is very effective.

While people are interested in the acai berry, there are still few research going on to find out the exact science behind the acai berry. Since fresh acai berry is not readily available in the US, few US scientists have devoted themselves to do research on it. A research by the University of Florida showed that the acai berry may be able to cure cancer cells. However, more research is needed to find out for sure the benefits of the berry.

Nowadays, you can buy many acai products in grocery stores. Whenever the fresh acai berry is not available, you can buy frozen acai packs, acai ice cream, acai chocolate bars and many other acai products. Many manufacturers have begun using acai in many of their products taking advantage of the recent acai craze. However, whenever buying acai for weight loss, be sure to read the content of the product because many of them contain very little acai and more sugar and other bad-for-you ingredients.

Overall, using acai for weight loss is very effective because you are making yourself healthy. If you are overweight, you can use the acai for weight loss. If you are malnourished, eating the acai will help you become healthy.

The Most Common Form of Skin Cancer

Mention the top health threats and everything from heart disease to obesity come up. Many people will also bring up cancer. One form of cancer that is deadly, but does not get enough attention, is skin cancer.

Unlike most cases of cancer, skin cancer is not a hidden risk. It is right there on your skin. People only die from skin cancer for a couple of reasons. Either they do not recognize it as cancer or they do not act on what they see.

Skin cancer breaks down into three distinct forms of the illness. Melanoma is the best known, but two other versions exist. They are basal and squamous cell carcinomas.

Basal cell carcinoma is by far the most common type of skin cancer diagnosed in the world. It is estimated it makes up as much as 90 percent of all cases, which is rather astounding when you think that there are two other types.

The really good news is basal cell carcinoma is the least serious of the three skin cancers. It is slow growing. More importantly, it rarely spreads to the rest of the body with less than 1 in 1,000 people having such an occurrence.

Squamous cell is not as benign as basal cell. It spreads and can be deadly if it makes it to the internal organs. It takes time, however, and the cancer can be effectively treated if it is diagnosed prior to making it to the organs.

The monster in the closet when it comes to skin cancer is melanoma. It is seriously bad news and something you do not want your doctor to mention as a diagnosis. Fortunately, it is also the least common diagnosis.

Why is this form of skin cancer so deadly? Once again, it comes down to the issue of spreading. Simply put, it spreads quickly through the lymph nodes and blood to the internal organs.

Nothing good is going to happen when cancer gets into the organs. Since melanoma spreads to the organs quickly, it is the form of skin cancer that kills the most. It is also the rarest form, occurring in roughly 4 percent of all cases.

The great news with skin cancer is the most common form is also the least deadly. That being said, do not take skin issues lightly. Educate yourself on what to look for and check your skin at least once a month.

Herpes - Affects An estimated 80 Million Americans!

INTRODUCTION: Herpes is a very common infection produced by 2 different but closely related viruses. Simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and Simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). It infects the nervous system, modifying the DNA of the nerve cells supplying the skin through which it entered. It may also play a part in the spread of HIV, the virus that is said to cause AIDS. It is spread by touching, kissing, and sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. It is most contagious when sores are open and “weeping″ until the scabs heal and fall off. Herpes is estimated to affect some 80,000,000 persons in America.

SYMPTOMS: include feeling like you have the flu and blisters that appear and then burst in the genital area, causing painful sores which may include burning feelings if urine flows over sores, unable to urinate if severe swelling of sores blocks the urethra, itching in the infected area.

Severe 1st episodes may have symptoms that include swollen, tender lymph glands in the groin, throat, and under the arms, fever, chills, headache, general feelings of malaise, achy, influenza-like feelings. Flare-ups usually heal in 10 days to 2 weeks. They may be more painful and last longer in women or men with illnesses that weaken the immune system like leukemia and HIV.

Outbreaks typically begin with pain, tenderness, or itching in the genital area and may also include fever and headache. Avoid physical contact with the area from the time of the first symptoms (tingling, itching, burning) until all sores are completely healed, not just scabbed-over.

SORES: The first outbreak routinely occurs within 2 weeks after transmission, and the sores typically heal within 2 to 4 weeks. They may also show up inside the mouth, but this usually only occurs the first time oral symptoms appear. Also it is possible to get genital herpes from cold sores. Other signs and symptoms during the primary episode may include a second crop of sores, and flu-like symptoms, including fever and swollen glands. Genital herpes can produce recurrent painful sores in many adults, and infections can be severe in persons with suppressed immune systems. There may be some early warning signs before an outbreak happens such as tingling, burning, or itching where sores occurred before.

TREATMENT: There is no recognized cure for the disease, but antiviral medications can shorten and prevent outbreaks during the period of time the person takes the drug. Treatment should commence at the first signs of an outbreak for best results as far as length of time and healing are concern. Should it begin before the lesions appear, it is possible that the outbreak can be avoided. Recently valacyclovir was released to be used as a 3 day treatment for recurrent outbreaks of genital herpes. This is an effective approach that accomplishes the highest blood levels of medication available.

CONCLUSION: Herpes is an infection that is created by a simplex virus. It can make people more susceptible to HIV infection, and it can make HIV-infected individuals more infectious. It is contagious if the carrier is creating and shedding virus and can produce a wide range of signs and symptoms. Some are dramatic and very easy to recognize; some are subtle and may be ignored or confused with some other ailment. The Virus is extremely contagious and can be passed from person to person through any type of unprotected sex.

Studies indicate that more than 500,000 Americans are diagnosed with genital herpes every year, and the greatest increase is occurring in young teenagers. Efforts to produce a vaccine by biotechnology companies are ongoing. There is no cure to date.

The far infrared portable sauna is often termed as the sauna to go. Sounds like a coffee I know - but in this case it basically refers to the ease of operation by the very fact that you could move it around easily if you desire to do so. This is what makes this type of sauna very attractive, especially if you move around a lot.

Infrared saunas offer many health benefits, both physical and mental. This article will tell you a little bit about these benefits and give you an idea of what to expect if you decide to try out this revolutionary new type of sauna. Before I go any further - two words of caution. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water before getting in the sauna; otherwise, you could easily become dehydrated. Also, never get in a sauna after drinking heavily, as this increases the odds of dehydration.

Infrared rays penetrate your body, causing a sweating from deep inside rather than from the surface as in a traditional sauna. While any sauna will produce sweat, an infrared one will generate more sweating without using heat - so you can spend more time in the sauna.

It can be hard to breathe in a traditional sauna; but not in an infrared sauna. In fact, I typically spend about forty minutes in mine, bringing something to read to pass the time. The sweating fostered by an infrared sauna helps your body rid itself of toxins. A sauna also promotes circulation and eases muscular aches and pains. Along with all of this, it’s a great way to unwind.

Many different types of portable saunas are on the market. There are extremely portable fold-up models, which can be taken nearly anywhere and other models which closely resemble a traditional style of sauna; but are far more simple to install and remove for moving.

Then there is the truly portable sauna that is like a package. This you get in and your arms and head protrude out of it, kind of looks weird to be honest but yet it is effective. In this case you could watch TV in your room or read a magazine while taking a sauna at the same time. The rest of your body is within the sauna but your hands and head are not.

Personally I prefer the enclosure style, I like to feel that I am in a sauna, but if you want take a sauna regularly and you rent a property for example, this type of sauna may work very well for you.

It does take a while to begin sweating since they are not as hot on the inside as you may expect from a sauna; but after 15 minutes or so, watch out! You’ll begin sweating like nobody’s business and after a shower, you’ll feel incredibly relaxed and refreshed.
