Novelty Neckties are not only a fashion statement, but a trend
Novelty neckties can be funny and amuse those around you if worn at the right time. But are you sure you know when it’s appropriate to wear one?
Although having a sense of humor is something to be proud of, not everyone can see the funny side of things. Making a joke at the right time when tensions run high can help everyone laugh at themselves and the situation they find themselves in. There are some people that are determined to remain humorless though, whatever the situation.
These gloomy folks aside, most people are aware there is a right time to make a statement with a novelty necktie and a wrong time.
Choosing the right necktie for the right occasion is not a skill that everyone possesses, and novelty necktie wearers are no exception.
With the wide choice of novelty neckties to be found, you can make choices as diverse as your favorite film star, hobby, pet, the alcohol brand you prefer, or anything else you may find amusing or interesting. Wearing these at the right time and place is fine, but choosing to wear a novelty necktie to an important conference for instance is neither the time nor the place.
Use a bit of sensitivity when choosing your necktie for work. After all, wearing an ‘Edward Scissorhands’ necktie won’t make your patients feel any easier if you are a surgeon!
Your novelty necktie with ‘real men eat burgers’ on it may be fine in a burger joint but will go down like a lead balloon in a smart vegetarian restaurant. You may well see the funny side of it, but your dining companions may just feel embarrassed.
If you have to wear one because you feel invisible in a tasteful but ultimately boring plain silk number, then there are a lot more subtle and less ‘loud′ novelty neckties to choose from.
Some other types you can choose could be based on works of art for example, or maybe just show some sort of beautiful scenery that shouldn’t offend anyone.
If you stubbornly refuse to tone it down, try and choose a novelty necktie with a small and subtle repeat pattern on it. Some of the connoisseur range depict tiny wine glasses (no good at a recovering alcoholics meeting), and others have little coffee cups for example. Seen from a distance they look like patterned ties, but if you get close enough you can see what they are.
So you see you don’t have to give up your personality by being too sober or dowdy when making a choice of necktie, just ensure you are mindful of the event you are wearing it to.
There are many new designs being introduced in the novelty necktie market each year as their popularity continues to rise. You never know, you may even find one as a Christmas present for one of your humorless colleagues that will bring a smile to their face!
