My clients have been pestering me to review the Firm Wave Personal Gym to decide if they should buy one. They were worried it would be another useless piece of home exercise equipment that was all hype and wouldn’t give them the type of workout they were looking for. As I use a similar piece of equipment the T-Bow I took up the challenge.

The T-Bow and the wave are both curved to enable them to be used curved side up or down. If placed curved side down it’s unstable and you can rock on it. If placed the other way you can stand on it and use it like a step. This way you can use it to step up and down (a normal step), enhance your stretching routine, with a cheap exercise band add many strength training exercises and by using only your body weight you can so exercises like press-ups, squats and lunges.

Turn the Wave over and place the curved side down and you have an unstable platform from which to rock or walk your way to a fantastic fat burning workout. You can also perform a rocking movement which really hits the spot, use the Wave length ways and walk your way fit, strengthen Abs and core and use it with a resistance band to make your workout more challenging.

The Firm claim you can burn up to three times more fat by exercising on the Wave. I′m not sure about three times but you will get one of the most challenging cardio workouts you’ve ever experienced. If rocking to a fast beat, the Wave will have you breathless in less than 5 minutes if your not used to it.

Considering you can do over 100 exercises on the Wave including fat burning cardio, strength training and sculpting it’s a well rounded piece of equipment. The Wave comes with 4 DVD’s to ensure you get the best from it, an exercise mat, The Firm’s Wave, wall chart and a healthy eating guide. All for less than $100. Compared to the TBow it’s not as well constructed but for home use this won’t be a problem.

Don’t be tempted to think this is just another exercise gimmick it’s not. The Wave will do exactly what the manufactures claim with one proviso. To get the claimed results you actually have to use it! Like any piece of home workout equipment if you leave it under the bed gathering dust it just won’t work. You’ll lose no fat, burn no calories and you won’t get that strong and toned body you desire.

Discover what thousands of people like you have learned. That by Riding The Wave you can achieve your fat loss goals

Are your discovering nail ringworm to be disconcerting? Never thought you could cure it on your own? You have a good choice of easy to use home cures for nail ringworm so you won’t have to automatically have to go a doctor for treatment. You will however need to pay your doctor a visit for a correct diagnosis

Toe nail fungus has never been found to be critical to a sufferer’s health, but has proven to be bothersome for quite a few people. Its beginning can be as non-conspicuous as a small line on a toe. This could soon develop on other toes, and then become a larger problem. Medical drugs tend to be dangerous, expensive, and you need to take them orally for up to 12 months.

Here a selection of easy to follow natural remedies for your nail fungus:

You can soak your infected nails for approximately quarter of an hour every day in tepid water and equal amounts of apple cider vinegar. The apple cider vinegar aids in restoring the natural PH balance to the skin. This makes your nails more resistant to fungal infections. After you have soaked your nails for 15 minutes make sure to dry the whole area of the infection completely. Use your blow dryer (on low heat), if necessary. Drying the infected area out completely will prevent any moisture to remain between your toes, and keep nail the fungus at bay. Moisture is one of the main reasons for the occurrence of nail fungus.

Tea tree oil is readily available at your local heath store. Use a swab to put the tea tree oil on and underneath the edge of the infected nail. Use small amount of tea tree oil as possible on each nail as it is very active and if it touches your skin, there are chances that your skin can peel off. Be extra careful not to let it touch your skin in each application. If your goal is to have ringworm free nails then this is an ideal treatment.

Lapacha tea is yet another home cure that is easily found in any health food store. It’s as simple as making the tea and then bathing the affected nails. If you do this twice a day your infection will clear.

There are some other moderate substances that can treat nail fungus, such as Vicks Vaporub, oil of oregano and olive leaf extract. Using something more oily will kill the fungus head on and protects the area completely.

Repeat the process with any of these natural cures till your nail fungus has gone. Nail fungus generally roots itself deep in the nail bed, and that’s why you must continue with the natural treatment you have chosen until the nail grows out, and aids in the nail fungus going completely.

Preventing your nail fungus from appearing in the first place is far better than curing yourself every time you’re infected

Change your socks often as your socks can also invite nail ringworm to reside under your nails. Wash your socks on the hottest temperature that the socks will allow so none of the infecting fungus lives. Also clean your socks with a detergent that has the least amount of fragrances and chemicals in as possible. These can throw out your skins natural PH balance, and this puts it in favor of the ringworm.

It is imperative to air your feet as often as possible. The infecting fungus loves your feet to be warm and moist. Letting them breath prevents the fungus from infecting you.

Wearing relaxed fitting shoes will help prevent moisture from appearing. Tight footwear creates a moister, warmer foot that the fungus loves. Take your shoes off any occasion you can to aid in the air circulation of your feet.

Remember to purchase new shoes once you have cured your nail fungus. You don’t want any surviving fungus to start the infection again.

The Shoulder and Physiotherapy

The gleno-humeral joint, known in lay terms as the shoulder, is a vital part of the links in the upper limb and responsible for our ability to place our hands where we can see them to perform activities. Because flexibility is a prime requirement the shoulder is a less stable joint with moderate muscle power and a large range of motion. It is described as a “soft tissue joint″, implying that the joint’s functional ability is dependent on its soft and not its hard components. Physiotherapists are closely involved in treating and rehabilitating the shoulder, dealing with the muscles, ligaments and tendons.

The gleno-humeral joint is made up of the ball of the humerus and the socket of the shoulder blade which is called the glenoid surface. The top of the arm bone, the humeral head, is large and carries many of the tendon insertions for the stability and movement of the shoulder. The socket or glenoid is a relatively small and shallow socket for the large ball but is deepened slightly by a fibrocartilage rim called the glenoid labrum. Above the shoulder is the acromio-clavicular joint, a joint between the outer end of the collar bone and part of the shoulder blade, a stabilizing strut for arm movement.

The glenohumeral and scapulothoracic joints of the upper limb are acted on by large, strong, prime mover muscles as well as smaller stabilisers. The major back and hip muscles keep the shoulder stable to allow strong movements, the thoracic stabilisers keep the scapula stable so that the rotator cuff can act on a stable humeral head. The deltoid can then perform shoulder movements on the background of a solid base and allow precise placement and control of the arm for hand function to be optimal.

The rotator cuff is a group of four small muscles which originate from the scapula and insert around the ball of the humeral head, the teres minor, subscapularis, infraspinatus and supraspinatus. The cuff tendons form a sheet around the ball of the arm bone and allow forces to be exerted on the humeral head by the shoulder girdle muscles. If the rotator cuff is not functioning normally the more powerful muscles tend to make the humeral head slide upwards on the socket, interfering with normal function and making a person unable to lift their arm up above their head.

As a person ages, the rotator cuff develops degenerative changes in its tendinous structures, causing small tears in the tendons which can enlarge until there is no continuity between the muscles and their attachments. This leads to loss of normal shoulder movement and can be very painful but is not always so and “Grey hair equals cuff tear” is a common saying. Physios work at rotator cuff strengthening, whilst in massive tears the main shoulder muscles can be progressively strengthened to improve function. Surgery is possible for massive, moderate and small rotator cuff tears and physiotherapists manage the post-operative protocols.

Osteoarthritis (OA) does not commonly affect the shoulder but there is a group of patients who develop severe arthritic problems in the shoulders, whom physiotherapy can help by maintaining joint ranges and muscle power. Once conservative treatments are exhausted then total shoulder replacement (TSR) is possible, either replacing the ball and socket with new components or reversing the combination. Physiotherapy post-operative management is very important as the shoulder is a “soft tissue joint″ in the sense that the strength and balance of the shoulder muscles and other tissues is vital for good outcome.

Physiotherapy treatments include the assessment and management of many different shoulder pathologies such as shoulder fractures and dislocations, sub-acromial impingement, tendinitis, abnormal patterning and hypermobility. Physio treatment for fractures and dislocations depends on the severity and type of injury and follows the physiotherapy and surgical protocols. Patient education and muscle stabilising work is used for hypermobility, while biofeedback and correct muscle activity teaching is the treatment for abnormal patterning. Impingement physio is cuff strengthening and joint mobilisation, with joint injections and surgical acromioplasty if physiotherapy is not successful.

Total Surfing Fitness - Review

I have used and tried several different training programs over the last few years. Some of them I purchased online and some from my local gym, very few has impressed me, or showed me anything new. So I wasn’t overly excited when I first heard about Total Surfing Fitness. But when more and more of my surfing buddies started to talk about the quick results they were getting I decided to have a look for myself.

So I decided to give this 12 week program a serious go. I am on week 8 now and loving it and most importantly my surfing has improved a lot! After about 5 weeks into the program I experienced the following:

- I was able to stay in the surf a lot longer each session before getting tired

- I improved my paddling power resulting in getting a lot more waves, having a lot more fun!

- Flexibility, leading to smoother surfing and decreasing my chance of injury. I never thought I would be able to reach this level of flexibility this fast!

- Surfing technique and board control through technical maneuvers

- Realized how much fun surfing is again!

What makes Total Surfing Fitness different from other programs that I have tried is how specific it is to surfing. The creator of the program, Clayton Beatty is not only a keen surfer and a personal trainer. He also has a degree in exercise and health science and knows exactly what type of fitness it takes to get the most out of your surfing.

I recommend Total Surfing Fitness for anyone who wants to surf better, longer and more powerful.

This program also comes with some really good bonuses.

One showing a quick powerful workout for the outdoors. It also includes a fitness test for surfers measuring your balance, core strength and upper body strength. This is very helpful for improving your weak areas with some powerful exercises.

It also includes good information on nutrition, fats and how the food you eat effects your health.

The bonus I like the most is the “turbulence training” workout. A very powerful routine for fitness with full color photos and clear explanations for all the exercises.

Acai Berry Weight Loss Tips

The Acai berry has been proven to help with weight loss in several ways. First, it increased your metabolism, helping you burn off those extra calories. It also helps promote the digestive system and speed up digestion. This gets fatty foods out of your system more quickly, giving your body less time to convert them into fat. Finally, the Acai berry flushes toxins and other build ups out of your body, which not only helps you lose weight but also makes you healthier overall.

There are several different ways you can use the power of the Acai berry to help you lose weight, but some of them are easier than others. Here are a few tips that can help you not only lose weight and be healthier but can also add some fun and flair to your diet in a way only the Acai berry can.

The first tip to making use of these magical berries is to check out your local health stores for fresh or frozen Acai berries. Chances are, they will be hard to find since the berries lose their potency quickly after being picked, but there’s always the chance you can get frozen or even dried Acai berries. These won’t have quite the same kick as a fresh berry, but they are better than products with Acai berry extract. One of the great things about actually eating the berries instead of taking a pill full of Acai extract is the taste. Acai berries are great tasting, and they can add a new flavor to breakfast or snacks. Add some Acai berries to your cereal, to yogurt, or bake them into an Acai berry muffin for a new great taste and to stay healthy.

Another tip for getting all the benefits of the Acai berries is to drink a liquid extract or add powdered Acai concentrate to a drink. There are three benefits here: the nutrients in a liquid are usually very concentrated. Also, the body absorbs liquids faster than solid pills, which means you get the benefits of the Acai extract more quickly. Finally, a liquid or powder form of the Acai berry is the best option for those who can’t find fresh or frozen berries.

Finally, the final tip for those looking to take advantage of everything the Acai berry has is to add an Acai capsule to your daily vitamin regimen. While it’s not as good as eating the berries or drinking Acai in liquid form, the Acai pills are still a good way of losing weight and maintaining your health.
