Swimming is a great activity in itself, a great sport, and a great way to exercise. Physiotherapists advise this in preference to other modes of exercise. You get your dose of resistance exercise when you swim. Ancillary damage and injury is minimum in swimming.

Having your own swimming pool is ideal if swimming is a prescribed therapeutic activity for you. But the cost of building one in your backyard is prohibitive. Besides, where’s the space?

Some intelligent manufacturers have recognized this problem and have introduced what they call a stationary lap pool. In its essential form, the stationary lap pool has a swimming area large enough for a single adult swimmer. Water is pumped to the swimming area through a supply pipe, and the water exits the swimming area through a vent pipe. The swimmer stays in the swimming area and swims against the flow of water. The stationary lap pool is small in size, small on budget, but big on features.

A lap pool comes ready built in a variety of style and models. About 4 feet wide and 6 feet long, it can be located almost anywhere, even indoors! What can be more convenient? They can be installed above ground to avoid any digging, or in the ground - the choice is yours. The savings in cost and space is tremendous, and the convenience is priceless!

So how does it work? Water is made to flow along the length of the pool. You can control the flow of the water current. You enter the pool and begin to swim against the current. Swim enough to just keep yourself afloat, and heading into the current. This is a great way to get your dose of resistance exercise as well as cardiovascular exercise.

Stationary lap pools range from the basic model to super luxury models. In the very basic model you can adjust the speed and force of the water flowing against the swimmer. In higher end models you can control the temperature of the water as well, or have a Jacuzzi effect with pulsating jets of water massaging you down with alternate streams of hot and cold water.

The stationary lap pool is a wonderful idea for everyone, but especially for those who need to swim as part of a therapeutic regimen. It has no downside at all! It gives you the exact exercise that you require. It is compact. It is affordable. You don’t have to dig a huge hole in the ground for it. It can be installed above ground, in a room if you want. You can buy it readymade. Installation is a breezy half-day job. It requires very low maintenance, if at all. Not only is it affordable, it will help you save money as time goes by. Think of all that club membership fees that you′ll save. Think of all that gas saving by not having to move out of the house to swim. Think of the convenience of going for a swim at any part of the day or night.

Swimming is fun to do. For some it is a form of exercise. For others it is a form of relaxation. For some it is just sheer fun! Whatever the reason, swimming is a wonderful activity for everyone. But there are some people for whom swimming is part of their medical treatment. The stationary lap pool is definitely a must-have for those who require swimming as a form of prescribed exercise. The stationary lap pool is affordable by most people. The stationary lap pool allows you to swim in the privacy and comfort of your own home. You′ll feel safe, because there’ll always be a member of your family around to watch over you while you swim. You can always choose the time when you want to go for a swim. The Firm Wave Exercise Equipment

I have been asked by my clients to review the Firm Wave Personal Gym. They had seen it advertised and knew I had a similar piece of equipment the T-Bow. I use the T-Bow for my own training and have recently started using it with my Personal Training clients and have had some pretty good results.

The Wave like the T-Bow is a curved step which can be used either side up. With the curved side up it is stable (won′t move) and can be used as a normal step, for stretching, with an exercise band it can be used for strength training and you can do many body weight only exercises like Press-Ups and Squats.

When you turn the Wave over so that the curved surface is down you end up with an unstable surface. With your feet on either side of the Wave it can be challenging to stay upright on it never mind move. This way up you can rock from side to side for a fantastic fat burning workout, walk on the Wave to help tone thighs and buns, increase core and abdominal strength and you can add a resistance band to super charge your workout.

It is claimed you can burn three times more fat using the Wave compared to other cardio equipment. Three times, well maybe not but you will burn a lot more that’s for sure. Working on the Wave is challenging, rocking to music with a fast beat will have you sweating and breathing hard in less than five minutes.

Considering you can do over 100 exercises on the Wave including fat burning cardio, strength training and sculpting it’s a well rounded piece of equipment. The Wave comes with 4 DVD’s to ensure you get the best from it, an exercise mat, The Firm’s Wave, wall chart and a healthy eating guide. All for less than $100. Compared to the TBow it’s not as well constructed but for home use this won′t be a problem.

Don′t be tempted to think this is just another exercise gimmick it’s not. The Wave will do exactly what the manufactures claim with one proviso. To get the claimed results you actually have to use it! Like any piece of home workout equipment if you leave it under the bed gathering dust it just won′t work. You’ll lose no fat, burn no calories and you won′t get that strong and toned body you desire.

Exercise to Lose Weight Fast

Look, I know that you are smart. I know that you know that if you want to lose weight then you need to work on your diet and exercise routine. I′m not going to write an article explaining how to lose weight and end it so that the only thing that you have discovered is that you wasted your time to find out something that you already knew. Instead, I′m going to tell you how you can effectively lose weight through making efficient use of your time in the gym. Interested?

Perhaps one of the most important concepts to realize about losing fat is that your metabolism is a powerful tool. This determines how many calories that your body burns throughout the day without additional exercise. You can imagine how important that it is to know how to speed up your metabolism. This is what exercise does, but not all exercise speeds up the metabolism in the same way. Some, such as long, moderate jogging will speed it up during exercise. However, there are other ones that can only require 15 minutes to speed up your metabolism throughout the rest of the day.

Your solution to getting a “turbo-charged” metabolism is High Intensity Interval Training. Without going into too much detail, HIIT is performing a physical activity at around 90-95% of your maximum heart rate. You will only be able to do this for about 15-30 seconds. An example of a HIIT workout is doing a 10-15 30 second sprints with a minute of walking between each set. After that, you can cool down, stretch and finish your workout knowing that you will burn a lot more calories than 45 minutes of jogging.

This type of training is very hard to do. Just like people usually don’t squat, people will not do this either. No one wants to work hard but everyone wants the results. Well here is the proven formula, take it or leave it for some miracle pill. Just don’t act ignorant when you are not getting the results that you want. This method is proven, so proven in fact that Laval University performed a test to validate HIIT’s effectiveness. The results were astonishing - the tested group lost 9x more fat than the control group who performed traditional 30-60 minute moderate exercise.

Remember, when you are going to exercise to lose weight, perform HIIT (high intensity interval training). You will burn more total calories and even boost your growth hormone levels (ever wonder why sprinters are so buff compared to marathon runners? They both run.). Most importantly, your metabolism will be elevated throughout the rest of the day.
