Sleeping is a necessity, not a luxury. A good night’s sleep is just as crucial to maintaining beautiful skin, as is a healthy diet and proper exercise.

How Sleep is Important

While we’re sleeping, our brain goes through the 3 stages of sleep: light, deep and REM (Rapid Eye Movement). Through Sleep, our body is rejuvenated, our brains and re-energized, our immune systems are recharged and cells are repaired or multiplied.

Dangers of Sleep Deprivation

In this day and age, it is unfortunate that so many people undervalue sleep. What they probably don’t realize is that there are mental and physical consequences that come from a lack of sleep. In a study performed by the National Sleep Foundation in America, they found that even a minimal loss of sleep had a big detrimental impact on mental awareness, mood, productivity, communication skills, accident rates, performance and overall health. The average adult needs around seven to nine hours sleep each night.

Become a Sleeping Beauty

Throughout the day, your face may pick up dust and dirt which can clog your pores and leads to acne. Cleansing your face and removing your makeup is highly recommended as this will help you sleep pretty and prevent any mascara-stained sheets in the process.

There are now night creams on the market which claim to work best if applied before bed, try Manuka Honey Night Revival Crme.

You should slather on some lotion after your bath or shower that relaxes you and helps you fall asleep. Lotions such as Manuka Honey Body Butter or Thermal Mud Hand and Body Lotion may help.

Here’s to wishing you brighter days and more restful nights!
