Stylish Options in Men’s Wedding Rings

Not too long ago, most men who got married wore a simple gold wedding band to mark the occasion. These days there are more choices in men’s wedding rings than ever before. Platinum, titanium and tungsten have entered the scene. The traditional look is still available, but the choices are now a lot broader.

Consider the typical men’s wedding rings over the past few generations. They’re usually yellow gold, or even white gold. They might feature a discreet pattern or texture. They are attractive and timeless.

Then there are the modern choices. A modern tungsten band, for instance, is extremely hard but also light in weight. It’s perfect for those looking for an attractive, reasonably priced ring that stands up well to abuse. Not only do they resist scratches, they can be polished to an attractive silvery sheen.

Titanium is another new favorite among men. There are two kinds of titanium: black and light. They’re both durable and lightweight, not to mention quite fashionable.

The lighter style is a grayish metal that polishes to a subtle shade. It might feature a thin stripe of gold or be inlaid with a diamond.

The manufacturing process that produces genuine black titanium allows for consistent color all through the ring. Scratches won’t show and there is never a need to re-plate the exterior.

However, the type of metal isn’t the only thing men have a choice with these days when it comes to wedding rings. These days, a lot of men are choosing a band that’s narrower than the more traditional styles. The lighter weight and thinner style appeal to those who seek an unobtrusive ring that is still attractive.

Many men’s rings these days also feature inlaid gems such as sapphires, diamonds and rubies. The criteria for the stone’s quality are the same as in a woman’s wedding ring. Great cut, flawless clarity, fine color all apply.

To sum it up, a good example of a modern men’s wedding ring is a narrow platinum band with a small oval diamond. Many men these days will wear a ring of this type. That’s because they’re much more style conscious than generations past.

The best wedding rings today still incorporate the highest quality features available. Qualities such as durability and the ability to resist scratches are still important. However, now there is a completely new range of stylish choices in men’s wedding rings.

Beading & Jewelry Stringing Choices

There are several subjects concerning the alternatives of threading material for beading. Here is an fascinating report regarding the several threading materials and their use. One very substantial lesson I gained is that there is no single, universal (all-around) stringing material. Here are the greatest threading materials along with how and when to apply each of them.

Silk bears a fantastic “hand” (a fragile, flexible feel). This string comes in numerous sizes and colours. It comes prepacked on reels, and “carded” with a needle. This is a normal stringing material and forms beautiful knots between ivories and beads. Alone, silk tends to be relatively frail. It may stretch out, be cut by unsmooth beads, disintegrate when damp, and ivories threaded on silk should to be re strung up every few yrs. It is better to utilize silk when threading ivories and lighter, smooth-holed pearls. A needle is a requirement.

Nylon thread also comes in many sizes and colors. It comes packaged on spools, on bobbins, and “carded” with a needle attached. Nylon can be used where-ever silk can and is not as fragile. This material knots beautifully and can be used for pearl stringing, in some strung jewelry, seed beadwork, loom weaving, for Peyote and other specialty stitches, and heishi.

Nylon stretches much less than silk, and it won’t rot when wet. Like silk, you shouldn’t use beads with sharp edged holes or that are heavy. When you use nylon thread, I would recommend you coat your thread with bee’s wax or “Thread Heaven TM “before use to prevent it from fraying. A needle is necessary.

Bonded nylon is a good deal stronger form of nylon strand. The strands are physically bound together for improved strength and abrasion protection. While it knots well, it doesn’t have the “feel” of silk.

Bonded nylon comes in a variety of colors and smaller spools. Because of its abrasion resistance, you can use it with “hard”, more abrasive gem beads; in fact this comes close to being a “Universal Thread”. Brand names include: “Stringth” or “Silkon”. A needle is necessary, although you can put “Super Glue” on the end to form a “Self-needle”. This is a favorite beading material of mine.

Fishing Line is a tough, semi-rigid, single string of plastic. It does not knot easily, and eventually sunlight or UV may cause it to break and come apart. Fishing line is bought on littler spools and is sold in sports equipment stores.

Personally, I use fishing line for two purposes. I use it to do my preliminary stringing while I am designing a necklace (I transfer the beads to a better material for the final product), and to string together “raw” strands of beads. There is no needle necessary. I would never use this material for a final beaded piece.
