Scientific views on how well green tea works for dieting are still mixed. Some researchers have stated cases that go both ways, for and against it. A recent article in the Archives of Internal Medicine shows that American and Chinese researchers discuss how green tea effects cholesterol levels.

When the research was conducted, approximately 200 men and women (average age 55) who have mild to moderately high LDL cholesterol levels joined in the case study. The researchers told them to keep their usual activity levels the same as before and eat the same way. After twelve weeks, it was shown that individuals who consumed green tea extract with their normal meals lost more than fifteen percent of their total LDL cholesterol levels.

It has never been explained in detail exactly how green tea effects the levels of cholesterol but certain components found in green tea have proven to play a key role in excreting cholesterol from the body.

Th researchers stated in a later report that the first group of participants did not lose cholesterol as a result of drinking green tea. So let me get this right, first you provide proof that they did, and now you say they didn’t! Did I read that right? How much did you pay for your education again??

The problem I have always noticed in the medical community is that anything organic that works is not supported very well. Here is an exact example of what I am talking about.

When my oldest was 3, he got the worse case of chicken pox I have ever seen. There was not one square inch of him that was not infected. This boy was in so much pain from being so itchy that we took him to the hospital 3 times to try and find something that could help him. 3 trips later, nothing was prescribed.

Finally a family member recommended for us to try the extract from an Aloe Vera plant. Once I found one to buy, I applied it to my son and with in 15 minuets he had stopped crying, and he was no longer itchy.

When my other son who was 6 months old got the chicken pox right after his old brother, we took him to the hospital to make sure he was going to be ok. Children under the age of 1 can have serious side effects and complications having chicken pox so young, we wanted to be sure. I told the nurse what had happened with our oldest boy when he got it and what finally worked to help him and her response was, I know that stuff works well! I asked why we were not told about it before, her response was, we are not allowed to recommend organic types of medicine. So what, let the kid suffer???

If nurses and doctors are not allowed to recommend anything organic, I am sure they are going to find a way to not support green tea as well. If it is not made by a pharmaceutical company, then it cant be good right Doc? Whatever!!!

Hair Transplants - Avoid Becoming The Victim Of Botched Surgery

There is a lot involved when it comes to hair transplants. Hair transplants are not to be taken lightly. It’s quite an operation that has a very real impact on your body. You have to endure some real discomfort after getting one.

While every hair clinic has its very own ways and methods to perform their hair transplant surgery, there is a number of steps that generally describe the hair transplant procedure very well.

1. Because the hair on the back of your head is resistant to DHT (the balding hormone), these hairs are used to transplant them to a balding area of your scalp. After you have received anesthesia in the back of your head, a doctor excavates a strip of hair by making incisions and lifting the strip out of your head. The wound is then stitched up.

2. While you wait, a team of medical staff carefully dissects the strip of hair under microscopes. The hairs are cut up into something called ‘grafts’. These grafts are groups of hair that can either have one, two, three of four hairs. These grafts are the units of hair that will be used in the actual transplant.

3. When the team is done with the hair dissection, it is time for the hair follicles to be transplanted into the bald area on your head. While you sit in a chair, the doctor makes tiny openings in your scalp. This can be done using either a very tiny medical instrument, or a high precision laser. Once the openings are in place, the medical staff will implant the grafts one by one. The grafts with the fewest hair will make up your front hairline to give you a natural look.

These steps pretty much summarize what is involved in getting a hair transplant. The hair from the back of your head is DHT resistant and is therefore used in balding areas of your scalp. These hairs are obtained by dissecting a strip of hair that comes from the back of your head. The grafts that this procedure yields, are implanted into tiny openings on your scalp. When these openings heal up, the grafts are firmly in place. The hair from these grafts then continues to grow normally.

There is one thing that you should keep in mind. After about a week or two, your transplanted hairs will fall out. This is the reaction of the grafts to the shock they have endured due to the surgery. It is called shock loss and it is completely normal. After the shock loss, your hairs will continue to grow normally just like your other hairs. The transplanted hairs will last you a lifetime.

Hair transplants can make you look and feel a lot better. But they are not a miracle cure for baldness. The rest of your hair will continue to fall out, so you might have to get more hair transplants in the future. There are many celebrity hair transplant pictures available on the web, so make sure to take a good look before you decide to get one yourself. Also keep in mind that hair transplants are getting better and cheaper all the time. So it can pay off to put them off for a while.
