Are Toners Really Necessary?

Women who use skin care items often say they don’t feel or see any difference when they use a toner, but there really is one. Using the proper toner will guarantee a positive change because anytime you use anything on your face, that item changes the pH of your skin. Toners are often confused with witch hazel and astringents but witch hazel contains oil, and astringents usually contain alcohol.

Skin type should be your first consideration when you use anything on your face, including toner. Creamy toners may have up to 5% oil and that makes them best for dry or combination/dry skin and this type should beware of alcohol based products. Toners for oily or combination/oily skin should contain fruit acids like those extracted from grapefruit, pineapple or lemon or you can look for added oil absorbing powders in your product. Irritant free, hypo-allergenic toners are what you should look for if you have sensitive skin.

What do they do?

Toners return your skin to its normal pH, while they calm and cool the skin and temporarily close your pores. When applied with a cotton applicator, toner helps to remove dirt, facial oils, dead cells and any residue left by your cleanser or makeup that was not washed or rinsed away with your cleansing routine.

Your facial cleanser changes the pH of your skin based on the amount of alkaline or acid it contains. Your skin must then work to restore its’ natural pH levels and depending on the product, it might take an hour or more. However, your skin immediately returns to its normal pH after using a toner.

How do I use a toner?

The 3 best ways to use your toner are a spray application, with cotton or with bare hands to apply toner to your neck and face. Use your toner directly after cleansing and before you moisturize your face. Toner is expecially beneficial for oily skin because it helps keep pore size from enlarging.

Liquid toner application works best with cotton, i.e., flat cotton squares or rounds or cotton balls. Tissues are not a good idea, because they retain more liquid than you’ll use on your face. A quarter size amount on your cotton applied to your face and neck with upward circular strokes is all you need.

Gel toner is usually oil free and has the lightest texture. This type is generally made for oily skin and often contains anti-bacterial additives like rose water, citric acid or lavender. Look for a toner with salicylic acid (to remove dead skin cells and help prevent pimples) if you are very oily. Use the directions for cream toner to answer application questions.

Gel toner is very light in texture and is generally oil free. Designed with oily skin in mind, this type may contain anti-bacterial ingredients like citric acids, or lavender or rose water. If you have really oily skin, look for salicylic acid (which aids in preventing pimples by removing dead skin cells) in the toner. For use, follow directions for cream toner.

Spray toners are a no-brainer, but remember to close your mouth and eyes before misting your face and neck. Both men and women can use toners. For men, an after shave also closes pores but a toner doesn’t sting like aftershave unless it contains alcohol.

Men should consider moisturizing after toner use. The manufacturers of men’s skin care items refer to men’s moisturizers as a facial lotion or a hydrator, so men won’t think they′re using female items. However, the only significant difference is the scent.

The dead sea is Full of rich minerals that are essential for healthy looking skin. If you haven’t visited the dead sea yet then you might want to consider planning your next vacation to this great destination.

Among the many facts that make the dead sea so unique it is also the lowest points in the world and there are 7 million tons of water that evaporate on a daily basis however the minerals in the dead sea still remain.

There is no sea or ocean you can float around in except the Dead Sea. That is one of the best things about the Dead Sea.

People don’t really swim in the Dead Sea, they usually just go there to relax and stay afloat. The important thing is to try and avoid getting water into your eyes because with so much salt in it, it will definitely sting.

The Dead Seas sea level continues to drop every day which makes scientist believe that by the year 2050 the Dead Sea will disappear. The main reason for the slow disappearance of the Dead Sea is the diversion of incoming water.

The main fear is that this will change the Dead Seas characteristics and unique texture. However, the Dead Sea might never disappear because evaporation slows down as the surface area decreases and the salt levels increases.

The minerals and salts only found in the Dead Sea are been used to heal and improve many skin ailments like eczema and psoriasis. The water contains 21 minerals and 12 of them can not be found in any other sea or ocean.

The salts are great as exfoliates and the rich and thick Dead Sea mud is perfect to heal any type of skin, to nourish it and moisturize all at the same time.

Women make up the most percentage in the buying market; ranging from fitness, hair, fashion, jewels, and of course, the make-up. Their physical appearance seems to be the ultimate manufacturers dream because of so many products to market and sell. Just the woman’s face shows multitude of product potentials to offer; eye coloring, lipstick, blush-on, and many more, thus giving birth to the Makeup.

It is an important part of a woman’s life which is almost like an important component of daily routine for other people. There are times that women ornament themselves in a much better manner during some special occasion like the wedding and parties and while there is no denying the importance of makeup, you should also remember to remove makeup in a safe way to keep your skin soft, supple and healthy.

It is necessary to remove makeup before going to bed so that your skin does not lose its natural charm. However, removing makeup is an art too and you need to follow some basic tips for it. Usually women indulge in a lot of eye makeup for that smoky, bold and captivating eye look. However, removing eye makeup is not as simple as it seem.

Think Mascaras are hard to remove? Then consider using Baby shampoo because unlike other removers which mascara usually resist, it is effective. Extra virgin olive oil is also helpful. Apply few drops on a cotton ball and softly massage the eye region to let go off waterproof mascaras. Never use harsh remover or solutions as most of them can dry out your skin. Instead go in for mild makeup removers and there are facial cleansers according to skin types. Baby oil is an effective way of removing all kinds of makeup in a safe and healthy way and its very easy to do.

Rule of the thumb: never go to bed with your makeup on as that can hamper your skins quality, softness and health; eventually making you look older than your age. Others claim that it made their skin rough and dull mainly due to the remnants of the chemicals that come with applying makeup. Scary isn’t it?

Looking younger and naturally more attractive is a challenge for many of us ladies - and for increasin numbers of men out there. When we have smooth, glowing, healthy skin looks we look more attractive and just feel better.

For many of us, as we get older, this takes a little work and the application of anti aging products that give nature and our own natural beauty a little help in the right direction.

The major problem is to find the products that work and which are, to be blunt, a complete and total waste of time. What anti aging products should we use without simply spending 100’s and even 1000’s of dollars on useless trials? We can not trust the media and cosmetic companies to tell us the truth can we!

What we can do is to take a close look at the ingredients that we know are beneficial for the anti aging process and have a positive influence on our skin care regime. And just as importantly, we can look at what they do not contain.

My very first recommendation is that any products we use should be mineral oil free. Mineral oil, a petroleum based product, has been used for decades as a skin hydrating agent. While this sounds like a good thing for the skin, in fact it is not.

Mineral oil works by clogging the skin to keep in water. As we all know, clogging of the skin is not a good thing as it can lead to acne. Its long term use is for just one reason - it is very cheap to produce. I definately don’t recommend its use and I don’t recommend, the usually cheap products, that contain it.

Instead of mineral oil we should be using ant-aging products that contain naturally occurring moisturizers such as jojoba, almond, wheat germ as these do not clog the skin and therefore let out those nasty little free-radical agents.

Another ingredient, the vitamin B complex niacin, has been proven to be an effective moisturizing and anti-aging substance that will restores damaged skin cells. Whenever you see this ingredient you can be sure it will have a positive effect on your skin.

A PH balanced skin care program is essential. It does not matter what type of skin you have, anything other then a PH balanced program and must be avoided. Your products must also be hypo-allergenic and formulated without the use of dyes and chemical fragrances.

Finally, and I am sure you know this already, you will not find everything in just one product. Reversing the effects of aging and keeping your skin in perfect condition will take several products. There just isn’t one single product that does it all (don’t we wish that were not true). You must use a proven system of skin care with products that completely match and complement one other. This is the best way to get the skin you want and deserve in a short space of time.

There are some cosmetics for the eyes that are safe to use. However, there are some which are not safe and may actually cause some serious, even life-threatening problems. Thus, it is important that you’d be very careful if you use cosmetics for your eyes. Be sure to buy only cosmetics that are known for being safe.

One of the most serious problems related to use of cosmetics for the eyes involves injury to the cornea which is the clear front surface of the eye. An eyeliner can scratch the cornea causing it to become infected. Worst, it can then lead to permanent corneal injury.

The eye itself can also be damaged if the cosmetic contains harsh ingredients that can irritate the eye. If irritation is serious, possible temporary or permanent loss of sight may occur.

Women can also suffer from conjunctivitis because cosmetics are prone to contamination. There are some that contain preservatives that delay the growth of bacteria in the cosmetics but if some precautions are not practiced, cosmetics can still absorb bacteria and then contaminate the eyes.

While women who are allergic to fragrances or ingredients often used in cosmetics like Rosin, nickel and lanolin may develop tearing, itching and redness of the eyes. Possible swelling and flaking of the eyelids can also be experienced. Nonetheless, it would be helpful for these women to try various hypoallergenic cosmetics for the eyes until they find the ones that will be safe for them to use.

Also, if sensitive to cosmetic like a water-proof mascara, a condition called Blepharitis which is a chronic inflammation of the eyelids may take place. This then will need immediate attention of a doctor.

Although cosmetics can enhance beauty of women, not all of them are safe to use. Most especially the cosmetics for the eyes like eyeliners, eye shadows, and mascara, they should be used with utmost care most especially by people with allergies or sensitive skin as they are more likely prone to experience problems. They must educate themselves with some basic safety tips so they could avoid getting an injury or infection.
