Let there be no doubt that depression is a serious mental illness that requires months and sometimes years of treatment on the path to a cure. Millions of Americans across the United States are affected by depression each and every year. The situation becomes worse because only one third of those who suffer depression ever get treated.

Depression has always been classified as a mental affliction. Therefore, many Americans choose not to be placed into that category. Instead of being considered mentally ill, people try to manage the problem themselves. Unlike a headache depression doesn’t eventually stop on its own, and more people suffer from depression than you might think.

What are the causes for depression? The answer can get very complicated because you have to take many factors into consideration. There are so many things factored into the cause of this disease. Here are a few of the parts of depression. Many medical professionals believe that depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. But what causes the imbalance?

Typically the causes stem from biological, genetic, physical, mental and environmental implications. There are those inflicted that never really determine what spurned their depression. Depression often follows diagnosis of other medical conditions, particularly those that result in imminent death or are chronic.

Depression can also stem from the emotional pain when a close person dies. Everyone knows such losses are serious. Long periods of emotional, sexual or other physical abuses can result in depression. When people abuse drugs and/or alcohol the result is often depression. People’s mental states are fragile. If exposed to the wrong pressures, depression can result. There can also be a genetic element to depression. A strong correlation between family history of depression and current depression has been found. Many prescription drugs can cause depression. It has been clinically proven that some high blood pressure medication can cause depression.

A major cause of depression is stress. In our lives many events and elements can cause stress. Some of that stress can even be related to positive events in our lives such as promotions, graduation or moving into a new house. In these cases it’s not the good event causing stress, but fear of the unknown and/or fear of ability to deserve or maintain the positive element. In addition, many are stressed from personal conflicts with their loved ones, associates in employment or friends. Some people have a low threshold for stress. They’re affected by events and activities that to others seem to not be stressful.

Doctors first look for cause when seeking a treatment for depression. If you or someone you love suffers from depression-please seek medical assistance.

What Role Hope and Faith Play When You Are Depressed?

Hope and depression. They seem to be opposite but it is possible to have hope that you will overcome depression.

Lets rephrase that, it is imperative that you maintain hope about your future and that you will get better.

I know from experience, I have dealt with depression my entire life. Once thing I found out is that, although is quite difficult and sometimes impossible to have hope or aspirations while you are depressed, it is the only gift you can give yourself. Please don′t despair.

Hope, don′t lose it and don′t allow anybody to take it away from you. Hang on to it as your life saver.

Hope is what saved me and kept me alive. Even during my darkest moments, although excruciating at times, I learned that the hope of getting better and enjoying a full life was the main reason for me to keep living and therefore fighting to get better.

If you are a religious person, pray and keep faith. Spirituality has helped millions of people to overcome difficulties, including illnesses.

Speak to a priest, pastor, spiritual counselor, a doctor or a close friend. The main thing is not to close yourself up to the world. Please allow me to give you an advice here. Withdrawing is a “safe” place when depressed, but in the long run it makes the road to recovery slower and painful. It took me years to get this.

I know, speaking of your problems is not easy, especially if you are a parent, spouse or the main provider in your family. Our culture has created the wrong belief that mental illness is something you can just brush up and move on.

How many times we’ve heard, “you are just depressed, get over″. If everything were as easy as that. But you and I now how painful it is to live with the cloud of depression hanging over our heads.

How blurry everything looks when depressed and how the feelings of hopelessness and helplessness don′t go away no matter how hard we try. This is where hope and faith come in.

Although impossible to comprehend, don′t try to find explanations as to why are you depressed and why is this happening to you. That is a road to nowhere, instead focus your attention and efforts on getting better and overcome this terrible mental illness.

There is a way out of depression and you are not alone. I am here for you because I know what it is to be depressed and how lonely one feels.

Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club a Run for Awareness

Do you remember the Story of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia? Carlie was the little girl from LI NY who while staying with her mother down in FL was kidnapped and murdered on Super Bowl Sunday, 2004. Her abduction was captured on video in front of the car wash where she was Kidnapped by Joseph P. Smith, who has since been found Guilty of first-degree murder, sexual battery and kidnapping.

The story was carried nation wide and was heartbreaking to all who heard it. Now there is an old saying that every dark cloud has a Silver lining and if that is true then the Silver lining here is Matt Barbis, Carlie’s Cousin who started the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation (http://rosebrucia.org) with the Mission of reducing child abductions.

Matt goes around to Schools and does Puppet Shows and teaches children how to react and what to do if someone ever tries to adduct them. As you can imagine Matt’s Mission does not come without its costs and the Foundation runs on Donations from Groups,Individuals and Businesses.

Matt who Rides a Motorcycle had seen the good that Bikers on Long Island do to Raise Money for those in need, He wanted to Start a Motorcycle Run to help raise Money for the Foundation. A Motorcycle Run is a lot of work and Matt was Referred to the Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club (http://Mortalskulls.com) Who do a Run and/or Benefit every year.

When the Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club heard Matt’s story and what his Mission was they quickly decided that this would be the run and benefit they would be doing for many years to come. What better cause can there be then keeping Children Safe? said one of the Members.

The phone rang in my Long Island study two weeks ago. Turned out an old friend of mine hadn’t been feeling too happy so he went to his family practitioner. But the medication he got just made him feel worse.

He was looking for another opinion, and I’ve always had plenty of those. But I’m always reticent to countermand another doctor’s advice when I haven’t examined the patient or gotten the whole story. But this was a friend of mine so I bent my own personal rule.

I asked him a few questions and he gave me the whole story. After thinking things over, I sent him back to his doctor with some advice. And once he saw the doctor and told him the rest of the story, as well as ask the right questions, he got the same advice I gave him.

That’s a good thing.

At first his doctor had given him anti-depressants, and while that is appropriate for some, it’s not the right call all the time.

I advised my friend to get the entire story across. Doctors often only get the story the patient wants to tell, while leaving out critical information. This missing information affects the diagnosis, and what protocols and medications are prescribed.

After listening to my friend for about half an hour, I determined that he had a few things affecting his life that he needed to change.

1. He was not getting enough sunlight. This isn’t a joke. Sunlight is critical to mood and emotion, and those who work indoors are affected much more often than they think, especially in Winter. I advised him to get outside at least once a day for 20 minutes.

2. He needed more exercise. My advice was twenty minutes a day of walking, and work his way up to 45 minutes.

3. He had to cut his alcohol consumption down to a quarter of what it was before.

4. He needed to adjust his diet. Up with the fruits and vegetables, down with the amount of red meat.

5. He needs to supplement with an ultra pure pharmaceutical grade fish oil, which will support his mood and health. Numerous studies have shown fish oil helps cognitive function and neurological healing.

His body needs balance.

But he’s not getting it by drinking too much, eating like a lion in the wild, not exercising, and staying inside.

The changes his family physician and I outlined will make a big difference in a short time. And that’s the key to great health. Getting started now.

Relationship Problem Advice - The 5 most powerful things to do.

Looking for Relationship Problem Advice? You ask, “Is it possible to save your relationship even if your partner is unwilling?” Yes.

Are you yearning for the good old days and hoping to rekindle a lost romance? Are you interested in giving a tumultuous relationship another chance? Follow the steps detailed below and you can learn how to get back together.

1 - Great relationship problem advice is to start by reaching out and touching that special someone. Playing too hard to get is not the best way to approach this, though communication should be scaled back. Reach out and let your love know subtlety that you are still interested in being together.

2 - Try slowly implementing conversation again, making an attempt to talk when you can. Remember that you should keep your conversation brief, and rather basic in nature. Do not reveal too much, because mystery is actually quite a bit appealing for many people. Also, if you run into your ex at a party or a social gathering, if your friends come into the room, you may consider stopping the conversation to return to them. This will let your lover know that while the communication between the two of you is nice, it is not your highest priority right now. Don’t be afraid to flirt a little bit here and there as well.

3 - If you want to learn how to get your ex back, stay away from other members of the opposite sex. Sure, your true love may be understanding enough to let it slide if you begin to peruse other “prospects”, but if you want to get back together, stay away from competition.

4 - Part of learning how to get your love back on track is by treating your favorite person like royalty. This is the best relationship problem advice: remember the important things. Let it be known that you remember the most important anniversaries and dates in their life. Send a card at birthday time thus letting the person know that you’re thinking about them in a harmless and positive way.

5 - If you want to learn how to get your ex lover back, start by reaching out and touching him or her. Relationship problem advice is useless if you are playing too hard to get which is not the best way to approach this, though communication should be scaled back. Reach out and let the object of your efforts know subtly that you are still interested in being a part of that person’s life.

If you really think that you and your ex are meant to get back together, then you need to learn how to get that person back. Learning how is not necessarily difficult, but it does take some thinking and some planning if you really do want to get the results you seek.

There is much more to getting back together after a separation but these are the first things I put into effect when a great chasm developed between me and the love of my life. The information above was part of what saved me when I had no idea of how to get my true love back.
