For a diabetic a diabetic diet is very important to managing their condition, and in some cases even working towards reversing it. If you’re a diabetic then it’s wise to cut the amount of fats and carbohydrates you consume.

Both types of diabetes can benefit from the diabetic diet. Type I, called juvenile diabetes, is often diagnosed in children while type II usually starts in adulthood and is more common. With type I diabetes the body produces overly low levels of insulin, while with type II the problem is with cells that don’t absorb insulin. A diabetic diet addresses both types, but type II can actually be avoided or reversed with the proper diet.

In general the diabetic diet is geared towards attaining ideal body weight for controlling and managing diabetes. There is a simple formula for calculating the estimated ideal bodyweight for any person. In women add five pounds to 100 for every inch above five feet, and subtract five pounds from 100 for every inch under five feet. For example a 5′2″ woman would ideally weigh 110 pounds. Men add 6 pounds to 106 for every inch over 5 feet tall. A 5′11″ man would ideally weigh 172 pounds.

The ideal formula for a diabetic diet varies, but there are some common basics. For a person with type I diabetes diet should be approximately 35 calories per kilogram of body weight per day, that’s 16 calories per pound of body weight per day. That means a 160 pound man should eat about 2500 calories per day. Type II people should lose weight by eating as little as 1500 calories daily, then refer to the type I formula to maintain ideal weight.

In a general a diabetic diet carbohydrate intake should be about 50% of the daily caloric intake. Some argue that less carbohydrates are better, but there are advantages to cutting down the fat. Sometimes this can be offset by substituting mono unsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats in the place of saturated fats.

Quick Diets - A History of Dieting

I know this is hard to believe but once upon a time there was a world before diets. Yes they did not really exist, well certainly not the mad, crazy quick diets we have now.

The official definition of the word diet means “those things that are customarily eaten”. However when we talk or rather obsess about diets today we are describing a food regime which will hopefully change our weight.

I mean lets have a quick look at some statistics so show you how the use of the word has really changed. In 1993 Americans were spending approximately 30 billion dollars on books and diet related products. Well today we spend so much more and a lot of that goes on quick diets that don’t and will never work.

Lets have a quick look at dieting stories from a bygone age and see how they compare to our modern day diets.

The “You Can Only Have Liquid Diet”

Apparently in 1087 William The Conqueror began his new diet plan in order to lose weight so he could get on his horse. His diet was based on no food and copious amounts of alcohol. I could do that for a couple of days, Oh and he didn’t get out of bed either..

Although we are residing in a weight loss world now it wasn’t always like this. It really is only during recent times that we have realised the link between food and weight. Years ago we knew that without food or water we would die but due to surviving never really made the connection between food and weight.

The idea of nutrition for the body is also a relatively new thing with people in years gone by just eating whatever they could get just to stay full. There was absolutely no planning into whether or not they were getting a balanced diet.

Before the 18th century there were no refined foods so we really could get by with eating less.

Eventually food did become more widely available to the masses and people started to become interested in what they were eating.

The human body has always had the ability to store fat but up until the last couple of hundred years never had to much chance to. We were more concerned with trying to survive. This is why dieting and weight loss started to become more popular in the 1800’s as people made the connection between the food they ate and the weight they were.

The Atkins Diet

There seems to be a lot of debate about the late Dr. Atkins. His new diet revolution, as he called it, is something that many have used successfully, but there is a raging debate about the long term effects this style of eating might have on the body.

If you ask any of the people who have been on his program for any length of time, they will tell you that they will not eat any other way, and that they are healthier than they have ever been. They also have the blood work to back up that claim. However, that is not enough for some.

The main complaint that many who criticize Dr. Atkins is that the diet is too high in fat to be healthy. On this eating plan, the first two weeks are supposed to be high in fat and very low in carb. That alone would be a problem, but that phase of the diet is something that is only supposed to last for two weeks, or a few more for some people. After that, fats are slowly weaned down and more carbs in the form of vegetables, berries, whole grains, and diary are added. The resulting eating plan for maintaining weight loss is actually not much more fatty than the average low fat dieter might try to eat.

That does not stop those who want to say that Dr. Atkins was crazy however, and the debate may never end. Many on the diet report that their health has improved and their doctors are amazed at the amounts of good cholesterol versus bad cholesterol they have in their systems, and how healthy they get over a period of time. Dr. Atkins has repeatedly defended his position, and there are thousands out there that stand up for him whenever they can.

The best way to decide if you think the diet that Dr. Atkins published is good for you or not is to read though his book. Better yet, read though it a few times. Only then can you really understand what the way of eating is all about. There are many out there who dont get the book and they do their own version of Atkins and wonder why they are failing. It is not a high protein diet as some suggest. It is a balance of protein and fat, along with a select number of healthy carbs. Dr. Atkins encourages, or rather demands, vegetables be an important part of the plan, along with exercise, and a lot of water. Find out what is going on before making a judgment. You cant decide until you know all the facts.

Frustrated, fed up and downright miserable. These are comments I hear from people who have failed to lose weight on various diets. Well fat loss 4 idiots is an excellent diet that actually works. You will lose weight and keep it off.

Fat burning hormones has anyone heard of these. Yes they do exist and we all have them. They are the principle behind fat loss 4 idiots. You do not have to stick to one food or go without to lose weight as this diet works with your natural hormones to burn fat.

The human body releases two different types of hormones every time it has food. These hormones can be controlled and trained by changing the types of food we have.

The way fat loss 4 idiots works is by manipulating these hormones into producing larger amounts of fat burning hormones whilst at the same time reducing the fat storage hormones. It really is so simple.

The way the diet helps re-educate these hormones is by implementing a meal plan which will include more than 3 meals per day. Hard to believe after all the quick fix diets that you will be able to eat, feel full and still look fantastic.

Food is the key to this diet working. Weird I know but the food we eat controls our fat burning and storage hormones. It is food that activates the fat burning hormones which is why you will be eating more meals per day. Fat loss 4 idiots will re-programme your body and hormones. This is done by following a certain pattern but don′t worry it is very simple and you don′t have to worry about what an earth you are going to eat.

Remember that quick fix diets or quick diet loss plans do not work. There are companies selling these promising instant weight loss. Fat loss 4 idiots is different in the way that you will be eating regularly and including the correct foods so your body will not keep storing fat.

This plan works by moving your calories around and tricking the body into burning its fat stores. This happens because your body does not realise for a few days that you have changed or altered its calorie intake.

Fat loss 4 idiots is suitable for the majority of people but do not start a new diet plan or complete lifestyle change before checking with your dietician or medical practitioner. This is especially important if you have any other health problems.

As you know if you are over forty it becomes harder to lose weight and fat loss 4 idiots is very good due to the increased number of meals for shifting that excess weight.

You need to check fat loss 4 idiots out as it will change your body and your lifestyle for the better.
