Getting Excited - The Honeymoon Period

Almost every time we start something new we go through a honeymoon period of excitement, but sometimes it wears off. You see a program on TV or see a website that motives you to buy it and get started on your new weight loss journey. You’re all excited about this new program, but then within a few weeks you’re bored with it and are back to your old routines.

What happened? You were so excited at first, but now that excitement has died. I see this happen to people all the time. The motivation goes away because the only thing that had you going was that initial motivation! You have to find a way to keep the weight loss motivation going longer.

Tips to Keep the Motivation Strong

A lot of people quit whatever program they are on because it didn’t happen as quickly as they hoped. And honestly, a lot of times they had unrealistic expectations anyway! One thing you can do to keep the motivation going is make sure you are setting realistic explectations on what you can accomplish in a certain time period.

It’s also important to have short term and long term goals. If all of your goals are based on the next 2 weeks, what do you do after that? Also, if your goal is for a really long period of time you probably won’t be able to stay focused on it long enough to stay motivated.

Keep it Exciting by Mixing it Up

If you get bored with whatever program you′re following you′re likely to give up on it and go back to your old habits. Find a way to mix things up from time to time to make it more fun. This will help you stick with your overall goal of losing weight.

A lot of people overlook this weight loss tip. We tend to keep doing the things we enjoy more than the things that we just have to do. If you can find a way to get some variety into both your workout and your diet you′ll have more fun losing weight, and thus stick with it.

If you can mix things up and keep yourself motivated after the honeymoon period you′ll be much more likely to stick with your plan of losing weight for the long run. Stick with it and have fun and you′ll reach your goals!

Every five or seven years fashion trends come full circle and what was in fashion say five years ago will be in fashion all over again. Given this hypothesis I have very successfully managed to recycle my outfits that I made for myself five years ago and had tucked them away in the safekeeping of my old trusted trunk for safekeeping until they were in vogue once again. In the mean time I take off to the market to get myself some good bargains on clothing that have come into style. What I failed to recon with is the fact that in the years that my outfits were stored away, I had gone in for some weight gain!! So you know what this means, don′t you?

When I pulled out some of my clothes from yesteryear they were not made with provisions for the extra pounds I was bound to put on. In short, they did not fit. It is not like the clothes had grown small, I had grown large - in places. I had gained some extra pounds and in places I was beginning to realize I had places. How much weight gain I had achieved was what surprised me. This is when I stopped in my tracks and decided that I was going to get into shape and take this fat attack head on. I was going to regain my sexy figure and I was going to get down to it now! I sat down with pen and pencil and began to chalk out a plan to ward off this fat attack. Now this is what I decided to do

Second step: The regular four cups of coffee every day of my life was immediately replaced with four full glasses of cool water and a single drink of coffee. Being addicted to coffee this was a bit difficult to stick to so I decided to force myself to down a cool glass of water before drinking my cup of coffee. This filled up the extra room that the other three cups of coffee would normally have filled and so having no room for coffee this brought down my coffee consumption. Reducing my coffee intake made me realize that I no longer felt bloated all the time. Perhaps this is why I have put on a slimmer look. I believe that my weight loss dream has begun to change to reality.

Third step: I was the kind to cut corners when anyone mentioned the word Exercise. I believed that since I was so busy keeping my house spotlessly clean that I had to have a body that was fit as an athlete. I was blissfully unaware about that process called metabolism until I read about during one of my searches about weight loss and I was convinced that metabolism was exactly where the solution to my weight loss problem lay. It was imperative for me to increase my metabolism rate and to do this I had to become much more active. Now, I hate to exercise bit dancing I love and there was the solution staring me in the face. I got to work preparing what I a dance exercise. This was nothing but a few vigorous dances that doubled as an exercise routine. And it worked well for my weight loss as well as my dislike to exercise.

Third step: Exercise was a bad word for me; I just did not like the very idea. But it was necessary to increase my metabolism rate and I knew I just had to exercise a bit more. So, since I love dancing I made an exercise dancing routine for myself. There is no better and enjoyable way to achieve weight loss than dancing to your favorite music. My dance toke care of the sluggish metabolism and also a great deal of my weight loss as well.

One thing is for certain and that is the next time I pull out some old clothes from my fashion chest they are going to fit me just fine!

Three Secrets to Weight Loss

In case you were wondering, there actually is a secret to weight loss and don’t you want to know that it is! Factually speaking it is all about common sense with a little bit of determination and a whole lot of perseverance. We will discuss these three areas how that can be applied to a weight loss program.

Common Sense: Common sense tells you that you should not be eating that large order of French fries, or that extra big piece of chocolate cake. Then who listens to common sense when those hunger pangs, and cravings are taking over. It is easy for someone to sit by the sidelines and say you just are not exercising any will power. Especially since most of these people do not have a weight problem.

It is also very easy for others to stand in judgment and blame others of not being able to exercise will power when it comes to delicious food hovering around. However, these are the ones without a weight problem.

From now on for whatever bad food you eat get yourself a helping of a dish of good food. Try to eat a portion of your healthy food before you eat the junk food. Let u say that you like to eat apples and you have a chocolate just waiting to be consumed, first eat your apple then the piece of cake. It will further help eat half the serving of cake. You should continue this practice steadily increasing the quantity of healthy food in you daily diet. Now, don’t expect to make progress in your weight loss program just yet, this is just changing your eating habits.

Perseverance: Perseverance is a technique, or rather a quality, that will cultivate healthy eating habits in you. This really means that every single time you fail you start all over again. Eventually you will only eat healthy foods never even thinking of all the junk food in the world. It is also very possible that when you have practiced perseverance for a few days your weight loss will have started taking effect.

Believing In Yourself: It is also very important for an individual suffering from obesity to have a high level of self esteem. This is the process of believing in oneself. A lot of overweight individuals begin to have pity on themselves and this leads to over eating or incessant eating habits. Eating as everyone knows it is what leads to being overweight. Self pity is the exact opposite of believing on oneself and this is something that needs to be cultivated. Overweight people need to concentrate only on the brighter side of their character and the stronger points of their personalities and stop blaming themselves all the time if they want to successfully lose weight.
